It's different. The FL here is younger and less experienced than in Stand or Fall, so the vibe is different. I like this one better for the incorporation of secondary storyline elements, but the overall quality is similar.

Agree with this. I thought the director sent that character too far into the cold, especially in the later episodes when she was supposed to be opening to the boyfriend and becoming more ambivalent about her interaction with her father.
Feeling hopeful that we'll get something sweeter this time around.

I binge-watched this and enjoyed it a lot. It's not a serious take on the warring states period of Chinese history, but it does feature a strong female lead, an adorable king who is her husband / lover, and a villainous couple in the vein of the Macbeths. The romance between the leads is what I liked best about the show.

This is my first [and possibly my only] Jdrama ... and I have to admit I like the characters here ... despite the rather wonky initial premise, I found the characters' emotional immaturity and insecurity quite touching, especially given their ability to cloak their feelings from each other and from their work mates. I know some people didn't like the ending, and I admit I found it a bit rushed [a problem I've seen far too often in Cdrama series] but it actually fits the two characters quite well.
I'll probably watch again when I need a feel good drama with shy characters ... lol ...

I had a very strong mental image of them as the typical Japanese happily married couple, 2.5 children, very ordinary, and nothing else exciting ever happens to them. LOL

You haven't watched enough Cdramas .... KML ... If he'd declared himself before and she'd rejected him, then I'd agree with you. HOWEVER he wussed out and didn't tell her how he felt about her. I think the other guy making the comment about the wedding dress made him realize that he needed to man up and tell her his feelings before she got seriously involved with the other guy. I would have been annoyed if he'd just let the other guy walk off with his girl without putting up a fight.

Could also be construed as him fighting his corner. After all, he was able to pull her first. I think he also understood that she was going to the other guy at least partly because she thought he was in a relationship with his former crush. By declaring himself, he was making it clear he wasn't into that other girl.

He was offering himself as an alternative to the other guy. Consider that the other guy was willing to go out with her knowing that she had been with the ML.
I admit I would have liked to have seen where she explained that she never even kissed the other guy.

What caused you to not like her?

I would have liked to see more verbal communication between them in that final episode .... though the faux wedding was a nice touch.
