Most of the actors are from mainland China but because the novel is written about the late 80s and early 90s in Hong Kong, they have to dub the drama in Cantonese to fit in with the setting. Most people in Hong Kong, especially in those years, spoke Cantonese. Mandarin and Cantonese are not the same language.

Episode 1 was very enjoyable. It stayed true to the novel for the most part in the first episode . Ah to see it live on screen, what a joy!! Chusan and Liuyi are perfect. Bonus point that Liuyi is tanned just like the novel!

Yes, the setting is 1989 Hong Kong. In the novel, Boss Xia Liuyi sometimes travels to Thailand for business.

All 3 main actors are Chinese from mainland China except for Matthew Han who is from Hong Kong. It is a China with Thailand company collaboration. Xia Liuyi does go to Thailand to do drug business and he can speak in Thai (in the novel). I'm sure we will see them in Thailand.

I'm super excited to watch this drama. The novel is quite good imo. Love He Chusan and Xia Liuyi! But forgive Liuyi in the beginning because he is a ruthless and violent gang boss, but he will change for Chusan in the end.

The ML should be actor He YanChao who plays Xia Liuyi (gangster boss).
