I literally just spent half an hour talking my aunt’s ear off about this, even though she isn’t a CDrama fan at all 😂 I explained to her in detail why that comment basically saved me, and why it would honestly make so little sense to me if the Emperor suddenly turned against MK and FL.

He probably knows and appreciates those two better than almost anyone, especially after everything they’ve done for him. So if he had actually turned against ML and FL, I think it would have left me with such a genuinely negative feeling. :/

So yeah… that comment seriously calmed me down because otherwise I would probably still be sitting here wondering what the hell was going on 😂❤️

Oh my god, I’m so glad I read this comment! I honestly didn’t have a bad feeling about the Emperor at all while watching yesterday’s episodes. But after reading the comments here last night, I genuinely started to wonder if I had somehow completely misread everything and he was actually angry, offended, or something like that. 😂Even though I couldn’t really imagine that being the case, I kept hoping that it was all just an act and that everything was actually part of some bigger plan. :DI’m going to watch episodes 26 and 27 now! And seriously, thank you so much for this comment. ❤️

WTH... I just finished the second-to-last episode, and even though I’m 100% sure it has to be an illusion because of how things play out in the Lost Tomb universe, I still cried SO HARD during his execution. 😭😭

I was sitting there completely devastated, even though I was internally screaming, “THIS HAS TO BE AN ILLUSION!” 😂😭

But for the past few episodes, I’ve really been struggling to keep watching. I’m still only around episode 19, and I’ve barely made it halfway through that one. I literally just stopped watching in the middle. 😭

Sorry, this turned into a really long reply 😅 I just find this universe so fascinating, and I wanted to explain my perspective a little better instead of only giving a short answer.

I think it might really be because you haven’t watched the other parts of the universe yet. Of course, that means you’re missing a lot of the background and connections that make certain characters, events, and scenes feel much more meaningful.

My first drama from this universe was Adventure Behind the Bronze Door, so I already had a connection to this world before watching Mystic Nine. That drama actually explains a lot about the background, the mysteries, and the connections between the characters, so it gave me a different perspective going into Mystic Nine. (Although I have to admit, I still had to Google some things because this universe can get really complicated sometimes 😂.)

For me, one of the most fascinating parts of Mystic Nine is seeing the older generation, the Nine Gates, and learning more about the history behind everything that shaped the world Wu Xie and the others live in. It didn’t feel like just a story about characters from the past, but more like uncovering the roots of a much bigger story.

Of course, I also know that many people actually started with Mystic Nine (2016), and I think that’s completely valid too. If that is your first introduction to the universe, you experience the Nine Gates and their story in a completely different way. I think that’s actually one of the interesting things about this universe — depending on where you start, different characters and events can have a very different impact.

Without that previous connection, I can completely understand why the suspense or emotional impact might not feel as strong. Some characters and events simply carry more weight when you already know what their legacy means.

I also have to say that the other parts of the Mystic Nine / Lost Tomb universe aren’t completely different in structure. They are still very focused on tombs, mysteries, exploration, and uncovering hidden secrets. So I think it really depends on whether someone enjoys this kind of storytelling and wants to dive deeper into the whole universe.

But I absolutely understand your point. Watching Mystic Nine as a standalone drama is probably a very different experience compared to watching it after already being invested in the world and its characters. For me, knowing more about what came before and after made the story of the Nine Gates even more interesting.

Yes, I saw it! You were absolutely right—it was just as epic. ❤️ Every time a Zhang gets a proper fight scene, you just know you're about to witness something insane. 😍

I really think there might be something more behind this, especially because of something Yin Qing said after he found out what happened to her in the past. When he said, “If your family knew, their hearts would ache terribly,” the way he looked at her in that moment was so telling.

And then there was his reaction when she answered that she had lived on the streets for as long as she could remember. His expression changed again, and when he said, “It’s all my fault,” it felt like he was carrying some kind of guilt connected to her past.

Also, the way he reacted when he discovered the tattoo on her back really caught my attention. It looked like he recognized it, and his whole attitude changed.

I definitely feel like there is a much deeper connection or hidden story behind all of this. There are just too many little details and his reactions seem way too personal to be a coincidence.

WTF, this fight scene… my heart literally stopped for a moment! 😭 Zhang Qishan, you almost made it into my heart the same way Zhang Qiling did… but only almost. 😂
The intensity and the way he handled this situation were just amazing. I already liked his character, but moments like this really show why Zhang Qishan is such a fascinating figure. He has this incredible presence that makes it impossible not to watch him.
I still have a special place for Zhang Qiling, but Zhang Qishan is definitely getting dangerously close. 😂🔥

Zhang Qiling and Zhang Qishan are connected through the Zhang clan, but they are not close relatives like brothers or first cousins. Zhang Qiling belongs to the main lineage of the Zhang family and is the last known patriarch, while Zhang Qishan comes from a branch of the clan.

Wu Laogou is Wu Xie's grandfather. The family line is Wu Laogou → Wu Yiqiong → Wu Xie. So Mystic Nine is basically showing the previous generation of the Nine Gates and the events that shaped the world before Wu Xie's story in The Lost Tomb.

Yes, I felt exactly the same way. 😭 I even had tears in my eyes because that scene was just so beautiful and heartwarming.

But at the same time, I was sitting there completely frozen, having the exact same thought: “Please, she can’t die…” 😭

It’s such a bittersweet feeling when a scene is this wonderful, but your C-drama experience immediately makes you worry about what might happen next.

Oh my god, I had to pause at episode 8, around 12:40. 😭

I absolutely love Yan Fu Zhi. She is honestly the best friend anyone could ask for. ❤️

But why are these beautiful scenes making me so anxious? :’)

Actually, I know exactly where this fear comes from… because in so many C-dramas, the amazing, lovable characters are the ones who end up suffering or dying at some point. 😭

So now my brain is already preparing for the worst and thinking: “Please don’t tell me something is going to happen to her…”

It’s such a strange feeling because these scenes are genuinely beautiful, but instead of just enjoying them, I’m sitting there getting nervous because I’m already attached to her. 😂

Please tell me I’m not the only one who gets scared when a character is too good, because C-dramas have taught me not to trust happiness too much.

I always have exactly the same problem with her as well... but interestingly, I don’t feel that way in this drama at all.

Unfortunately, I have this feeling in general that, after a certain point, I find it difficult to watch actors and actresses in dramas again. I don’t really know why, but at some point it becomes hard for me to fully connect with them in another story. I felt the same way with Bai Lu.

Still, I decided to give this drama a chance – and I’m honestly so glad that I did. This is actually the first time in a long while that I have been completely fascinated by her performance again. I have so much respect for the way she portrayed her character, bringing so much emotion, depth, and expression into every scene.

But it wasn’t only Bai Lu who impressed me. The entire drama was incredibly intense, emotional, and unique in its own way. It was definitely not an easy CDrama to watch, but the atmosphere, the characters, and the powerful storytelling made it something truly unforgettable.

This drama will definitely hold a very special place in my heart. It’s one of those stories that you don’t simply finish and move on from – it stays with you for a long time. ❤️

And the same genre!! I’d love to say that these kinds of series are enough to wake some people up... but I don’t really think that’s going to happen.
​Regardless, it is definitely a very bold statement from the actors and the director. I’m not usually someone who pays attention to directors—except for a few—but this one is definitely going on my list of "watch and support everything they do!!" 😅❤️

That explains so much! Juvenile Justice is one of my favorite dramas as well. ❤️ No wonder I felt such strong similarities—it's great to see the same male lead again! 🫶🏻 Definitely another true masterpiece.
