This was decent and fun. Blood of Youth and Dashing Youth was better though.

In the Chinese market, Blood River has also been more well-received. The director and the original novel’s author have both acknowledged the drama’s success, and the author gained increased recognition through the show, including holding book signing events in several major cities.

Question: I am 9 episodes in. I dropped Dashing Youth because I didn't like it and thought it was too different…
I didn't watch DY as well, because the director is different, and the screenwriter is not the novel author, that's why you feel the tone is different. I just know SCH and SMY are support roles in that one and they helped the main characters to fight against Ye Ding Zhi in the end. They have very little screentime, so it doesn't matter if you skip that.
Glad to help! The brothers have enough scenes together, happy ending. The romance is very little, the FL is actually a projection of Su Muyu's desire for a peaceful life, which I wouldn't call it love. She's just a support role with little screentime. However, the brothers have deep bond from childhood and already become important half of each other. Highly recommend this drama! It's the most touching brotherhood I've seen in cdramas.
