Simple. Sophisticated. But not quite.

The Goddess of Revenge is an okay drama. I just dont understand the such terrible reviews for this.

As for the story, it's fine. Its nothing extravegant, its decent to say the least. Decent plot twists, decent scenarios, decent premises for every episode. Even if the actual story only starts around EP10 and felt like it would have been better if it was only 12 episodes and it went straight to the point.

Although one commendalble thing on the plot is that its a unique take on the revenge plot. Its not a typical plot, but I dont think it was enough to cover up the flaw of a slow and all direction plot

The acting was fine as well. Kim Sarang's portrayal of Kang Hera was fine. Although she lacked with facial expressions, she still manages to carry the complex character of Hera but not much justice. Yoon Hyunmin on the other hand, was fine as well. I just dont think the actor fits this kind of role, cause I cant really see him as a revenge guy.

The others was fine too, nothing much to commend or critisize.

The OST and BGMs are fitting and quite great. It plays at the correct moments and all that, I think we can give the drama credit for that. Although it was nothing out unique.

The rewatch value is almost little to nothing. After watching, you wouldnt really have any strong feelings for it that you just kinda forget it and dont watch it ever again.

Overall, 6.5 stars. It's something, but also almost nothing at times. Yes, the writers high cause *Makjang* but its personally not a hindrance. I reccommend it if you have nothing to watch anymore, but if you want something better. Sure there are more.

Chaos... Literal chaos

Suprise suprise, Philippine dramas at it again. If only I knew how it would end then maybe I would'nt have wasted 60 days on this.

The teaser had promise, but the pilot episode already showed problems and inconsistensies. This continued throughout— and personally, the split personality played minimal importance to the story. It was easily replacable with a twin brother plot or ghost plot— it was that bad. It often switches from drama to action to melodrama to comedy to horror to supernatural, the director and writers couldnt decide on a certain genre at all.

And dont get me started at the actual story, it's the most cliche and most confusing thing you'd see. The decided to mash what felt like 4 stories that could've lasted in multiple seasons into 1.

And as if it wasnt enough, the acting didnt help at all. Two of the main actors are known for having chemistries in comedy series— and this is their first drama as far as Im concerned. The acting was minimal and it felt like they were trying too hard to be their characters.

The only good actress was the 'villain' girl— Beatrice but just for the reason that it felt like that's who she really is irl.

I can't tell if this was a good drama trapped in bad actors or good actors trapped in a bad drama. Either way, avoid this at all costs and look for other split persona dramas, this was nothing but an exhausting mediocre ride.

A wasted opportunity

Philippine dramas are known for being mediocre and low quality, this doesnt differ.

After watching the final episode, you wont really know if you were satisfied or not because I am not kidding when I say the main character didn't get revenge up until the second half of the final episode. Most of the story was literally torturing the main character and the "revenge" part was just an 18-year old talking back to her stepmom. The premise is intruiging and promising— but the direction the director decided to take was one of the downfalls of this drama.

On the bright side, it wasnt boring or anything. The actors knew how to play their characters and the main villain shined the most. The lines were greatly delivered and the emotions of grief are for the most part— greatly portrayed and if you want an almost villanous lead that feels like she has a multiple personality disorder then maybe this is something for you.

Nonetheless, this could've and may have become a hit if it wasnt for the bad directing— after all, what's not to watch in an 18 year old Cinderella taking revenge?

Unless you actually enjoy these things, I dont recommend it. Skip and avoid.

As Graceful everything was, it still had flaws

Graceful Family was something I watched after it was the only one left in my watchlist, and Im not even dissapointed.

As someone picky with dramas, its not dissapointing. But it isnt really something iconic or extravegant too.

The plot was half what carried the story, it had decent plot twists and mysteries to carry out the whole 16 EP drama. Although it lacked with emphasis at some mysteries and aspects, either or neither explaining some of the mysteries (this in my opinion, was either the mystery didnt really make sense or it was just ???), it was still easy to overlook with the character writing.

Its one of the best aspects of this show. No character is useless/out of the blue wether actually contributing to the plot or not. The Main Character, Mo Seokhee was one of the best MC ever. She wasnt tHat kind of badass character that pulls everyones hair that already got clichè, but rather a strong and independent one while in keeping her feminine side.

Last thing about the story, it had its share of empty scenes. The final twist wasnt really essential to the plot, and rather felt forced (since it was revealed at the finale). I really wished it had more explanations of the antagonist's character and actual ambitions. Maybe a 17th episode could have been done as finale, because despite the action-packed and yet somehow empty movie length finale, it wasnt enough to cover all.

Another backbone of the drama was the acting. I never thought of Im Soo Hyang as someone to portray this kind of character, but she indeed suprised me. She slayed and gave justice to the character, it was shaped and modeled for her ngl. Lee Jang woo's portrayal of Heo Yun do was somehow oKay and justified, but I feel like more effort could have been done. They had chemistry somehow, at least thats something I like.

The other sub-character's and actors were fine too, to an extent.

The OSTs and BGMs wasnt something really commendable, although it was fine. I do appreciate the violin BGM during intense scenes cause that was a really unique and good take on instrumentals.

The rewatch value is low, its personally just something you'll watch once and never again.

Overall, it isnt a stressful makjang. Its the perfect mixture or mystery+drama+craziness. Everything was just average here, a must watch I must say.

An imperfect drama, Making it perfect.

Ah yes, a JTBC drama again. You know it's great quality, and with the casting? Make sure you're in for a ride.

For the story, it's an average plot at least for me. People might even find it below average but it's not bad. It's slow paced yes, some viewers might find it annoying (considering the episodes to be roughly 90 minutes each) but I don't think it was a hindrance to the drama overall.

BUT the scriptwriting was actually really good. It delivers and does the story somewhat a raise.

The acting was the highlight of the drama. Everyone delivers and carries the drama, especially Kim Hee ae who won an award in this drama. Her acting was just to convincing and on point that you actually feel the emotion she feels! She and the other casts even just a supporting role truly did the script justice.

Special mention to Jeon Jin so for slaying Lee Joonyoung's role. Trust me he deserved to be nominated along with Park Haejoon for a Baeksang.

The OST's and the the BGM are really great too! I really love them. Especially Lonely Sailing and Finale. They suit the drama and moods alot. Suspence, sadness, it's all there.

The rewatch value tho, it's not really something you wanna watch again. It's not because its bad it's because— you'll see for yourself.

Overall, I tried to give a both positive and negative view of this drama. I really recommend this, it doesn't just talk about affairs. It talks about what can happen, what the outcome of their actions is. It's a heck of a drama, and that's what's makes it perfect.

It's not that Graceful.... literally

Graceful Friends is a rollercoaster, which had an up, and all went down.

This review is just my overall thoughts, will contain spoilers.

The story was the main problem here. It was, at first the very backbone of the story. The first half contained so much mystery, so much potential, so much directions the story that could have taken.

But it decided to take the worst route ever.

I was pretty sure, that I would bet my house on it that THAT ending wasnt the original. By EP14, there was still so much going on that I was confused on how they'll end it. By the end, literally NOTHING was answered. Who was Kangsan's killer? Is Yubin actually Jaehoon's child? Wtf Junghae what ya doin there?

Its frustrating to say the least. It would have been better if they extended it till 20 EP, instead ending like that. 5 and a half stars solely for the first 8.5 EPS.

The casting was glory. Everyone did their insane characters justice, especially Song Yoonah (who played Nam Junghae) and Bae Soobin (Jung Jaehoon). The character portrayal wasnt anything insane, but justice was there. Chemistry in rivalry, romance, friendship etc.

The music (both OST and BGM) was something to an extent, commendable. JTBC is an expert with these, unique suspenseful or romantic music. Although the only two OSTs they used during the drama became quite tiring after hearing them for 17 EPs. Its still fine.

Suprisingly, the rewatch value is high. This drama became my guilty pleasure for some reason. It was just a drama that you would at least wanna watch again, and try to come up with your own conclusion with all the mysteries.

Overall, I dont recommend this for easily frustrated people. But for someone solely looking for fun, or just insane things to watch, of just a unique murder mystery, you can watch this.
