Sam tries to be perfect as he is to his parents. The pressure and image he needs to cope up might be a psychological disorder hes suffering. Something like a worsen insecurity afraid to be a disappointment to his parents. Depression was already being building up throughout the years and seeing father's tears was the last drop for his emotional being to explode.

This was hella confusing. The final minutes of the movie was at bleak, it was skeptical but good in a way where it keeps you stick through the end. I love the symbolism of the black stone though. Perfect title for the movie.
