unfortunately, some/many versions give no explanation whixh is absolutely unfair. In Guan Yue's and Fu Bang Qi's (and I think Wang Nan's too), they are living in a male-centred novel and Qin Yu is the main character and everyone else is cannon fodder, females supposed to love him blindly. FL finds that there was another girl in mental hospital who was blindly in love with him and then went insane because she tried to kill main character Qin Yu

As much as I remember from all versions I saw (9-10 months ago) this one (Guan Yue) actually explains and shows FL being controlled by plot and ML realises it as well. A well developed plot and ML is not left hanging. The other version I love is Chen Si's (also the first one I saw) but only saw that once and then it was gone from yt. I think even Wang Nan's version shows her being controlled by plot line but I only saw that somewhere till mid-way so don't know if any explanation was given to poor ML who loved his wife very much!
