He should be in jail for life, not in the entertainment industry.
I've heard him say things like he wants to date young girls so many times and said other pedo things multiple times. We've all seen the videos and pictures of him with the girl. Those aren't AI-made.
I'm not surprised SK is protecting pedos. This isn't the first time. They never cared about the rights of women, and that poor girl can't defend herself anymore, so it was obvious he's going to win.
Anyone who defends this guy deserves the same room in hell.
EDIT: I'm blocking all the KSH brainless fangirls, so please go on. đ
"Some of you are going crazy about actual romcoms and forget that REAL ROMANCE is not about "I love you"…
You literally said they should've added a kissing scene, or even a sex scene. Like, if I'm dense, what are you? You can't understand that a relationship on screen doesn't always have to show the viewer those scenes to make a romantic relationship work.
No way, I got LSS from the intro though. And the girlâs humming in the score makes me cry 𼲠but that's your…
Come on, the OST/Score is great.
Taeyeon, Minseok (Melomance), Lucy, Seo Youngju, Choi Yu Ree, Paul Kim and Park Haki. The only song I didn't LOVE was Damons year, but it was okay too but not sure I would listen to it without the drama much.
I think itâs fair to call out both extremes, but equating genuine appreciation of a drama with âtoxic positivityâ…
We didn't have a disagreement; you just didn't understand what I said, and you wanted to put words in my mouth that I never said.
In my first comment, I never said anything that's a lie. Like I said, if the shoe fits, it's not my fault or my problem.
You still think people judge writing differently, and maybe that's true, but that doesn't change the fact that anyone with a functional brain can see if a story was well-written or not. It's just that A LOT of people don't care about that or are just blindfolded fans.
You can literally see how this story was poorly written; it was inconsistent, with no buildup to any story other than the romance, and so on.
"Some of you are going crazy about actual romcoms and forget that REAL ROMANCE is not about "I love you"…
Funny you say this because your own comment inspired mine. đ
If you think Dongman and Euna didn't have any romantic scenes, you didn't understand the drama or just skipped those.
They never said "I love you," and we've never seen them kissing etc, BUT we've heard Dongman literally saying he likes Euna, they were on a date multiple times, and he even said he's happy the watch can't show "love". That was basically a confession, and Euna understood it.
What's romantic is mainly about personal taste so I won't argue about that because there's no point.
"This is not what people in real life do, especially over many months."
How do you know? Do you know everyone on this planet? Leave your bubble; not everyone deals with romantic relationships as you do or most people.
"If the writer wants them to NOT be physically intimate, it's not too much to ask that she let her audience in on why these characters aren't going that way."
Do they look like mentally stable people? No. They aren't people who are just happy and casually holding hands and so on.
"Are they both asexual? OK, that's valid. Was EA molested as a child? That's valid, too. Is DM impotent? Also valid. Then Show. Us. About. It."
You're taking too far. Just stop. You don't have to experience these things for not wanting to kiss someone in every second or hold hands.
This is why I said romcoms are not an accurate representation of a real romantic relationship.
It's actually sad that so many people don't want to pay attention to details and just want the same boring things. For starters. I don't like when people only see the surface of a character/story and say things like, "This character is crazy and unlikable. How can people like them?"
Neither of these characters is hard to understand because it's a well-written story.
As for the romance. No, I can't, and I'm never going to understand why some people want kiss scenes, not to mention sex scenes. Like, what the hell? Why? Some of you are going crazy about actual romcoms and forget that REAL ROMANCE is not about "I love you" or kissing scenes.
Dongman and Euna had much more intimate scenes in a single episode than most romcom couples in more than 10.
I feel like romcoms making people dumber and, most importantly, making them forget what real love is and how it should be portrayed.
This is why in Kdramas the romance is shallow and a lot of times has no depth and meaning. It's basically just fan service.
Thanks for this! Among all the raving reviews i was looking for someone to comment on the ml's character, but…
If you want him to become another perfect ML like in most romcoms, you better not watch this drama. This is about real people; the main point of the story isn't that viewers have to love these characters; you just need to understand why they are like this.
It's sad that some people drop dramas because they don't like the character, but Dongman is a more layered and complex character than a LOT of Kdrama characters I've seen. Is he likable all the time? No. You can't name a single person in life who's always likable, and that's the point of the drama.
Like Dongman said, he gives people what they gave him. Euna loves him, so he adores her. His best friend loves and understands him, so Dongman is nice to him too.
Dongman is basically a mirror that shows people who they are. If you can look past the cover, you will enjoy the book.
I was going to drop this drama after the first ep because the ML was insufferable. The drama turned out to be…
I'd rather have 1000 Dongman in my life than 1 fake nice person. If your life is insufferable, you won't act like Prince Charming. Life isn't that simple. His friends weren't any better, as you already said; it's just that they were hiding that side better.
Not hiding how you feel is one of the best qualities a person can have, and that's Dongman. If you paid attention, you know he was nice with people who were actually nice to him. Like his best friend, the younger director, not to mention his brother or Euna.
I think itâs fair to call out both extremes, but equating genuine appreciation of a drama with âtoxic positivityâ…
"These are all absolutes. Youâre not presenting them as subjective critiques; youâre presenting them as universal measurements, which is precisely the issue."
How many times do I have to tell you this? Judging writing or directing isn't about taste. You can see it with your own eyes if it was well-written or not. Just because some Kdrama fans want to ignore it doesn't mean it's not a fact.
It's like saying a singer who can't sing is still a singer I like. The two things aren't related, like at all. You, and just like many other Kdrama fans are so fixated on what you like when the topic isn't even that.
Just because you like a drama or a movie doesn't mean it was well-written. This is simple math.
"You say the audience is arguing about ânothing,â yet you wrote multiple paragraphs listing creative decisions, character arcs, historical inconsistencies, writing standards, and industry patterns"
The difference is that I actually have a real opinion, not just saying stupid things like, "HATER", "JOBLESS" etc if someone doesn't like my fave drama.
You're still talking about "everyone else" even tho I never mentioned everyone. It's clear the shoe fits for you. That's why you're arguing. I didn't dismiss anyone's opinion about the drama. It looks like it's hard for you to understand what I'm actually talking about.
You're talking about what fans like, meanwhile I'm talking about two toxic collectives that are fighting about nothing. They don't argue about why "Perfect Crown" is a shitshow or a good show. They're fighting about why it should be removed from this planet for good or why it's perfect without any REAL argument. This is why I said they're arguing about nothing because neither side has a valid argument. It's literally a kindergarten fight. This is also a fact, like it or not.
"those are not objective truths; theyâre subjective conclusions drawn from your personal sample of what youâve seen online."
No, they're not. These are also facts. If you don't believe it, you can read comments from Kdrama fans. At least 90% of the ROMCOM viewers are talking about kissing scenes and other scenes, not something else. So don't blame me for pointing out the obvious.
I literally said MOST or SOME people; ergo, I didn't generalize to an entire fandom. Pay more attention to what I'm actually saying. Also, Kdrama fans, in this case "Perfect Crown" fans, call everyone a "hater" or "jobbless" if they have a different opinion. I don't see you aruging with them and say they shouldn't generalize everyone. Why? Because you rate this drama 10/10 too so you agree with them?
"People do talk about acting, writing, direction, pacing, emotional beatsâthey just might be talking about them in places you havenât checked or in ways that differ from your criteria."
Show me one review on MDL or anywhere else where someone actually wrote a decent review, analyzing the writing, directing, acting, or anything else you mentioned properly and not just saying, "The acting was great, the chemistry is OMG, he's so pretty, the story is just perfect, and so meaningful."
I think 1 hand is enough to count how many people are actually spending time writing a proper review about a drama or a movie. I don't care, btw, but let's not act just because some people say, "I liked the story; it was well made, the acting was good, the chemistry is great," etc is a real opinion. It's basically just a copy and paste nothing.
"A drama is not a racecar with a fixed speed reading. Craft is evaluated through a blend of technique, intention, and audience resonanceânot rigid universals."
You don't have to be a writer to see if a script was poorly written; you don't have to be a director to see if the director did a bad job, and so on.
You're still talking about personal taste, and I don't know why. Taste has nothing to do with these things. These are facts, like it or not.
For the record, I have worked in the entertainment industry for over 20 years. Not that it matters, because if people actually pay attention to the details, they can see if a story was well-made or not. Most people just don't understand or just don't care because a "brainless fun" is enough for them. That's why blockbuster movies are still popular. That's why "Fast and Furious" can have like 20 sequels.
"You say âthis drama doesnât deserve a 10/10â as if it's measurable fact, but scoring will always be tied to emotional response. A 10/10 doesnât always mean âperfectâ
See? You finally found one thing I never mentioned as a fact.
Also, you're wrong too. 10/10 ALWAYS means it's perfect. Like, come on now. This is the most basic math on the planet. It's like saying 1+1 doesn't equal 2 every time. đ This is why I will never take ratings seriously on MDL. So many people are saying they don't want to rate dramas lower than 8/10 because it's disrespectful and they worked hard. And I didn't mention the obsessed people who rate everything 10 or 1 just because their faves are in or they don't like someone.
With this part of your comment, you proved my point about "critical thinking is dead." After like 5-6 long essays, we finally arrived at the finish line.
"You also keep insisting actors âdonât need defendingâ and âpeople should shut up and move on,â but that ignores how online spaces actually function."
When it comes to defending their poorly written Kdramas, they don't need defending. When someone attacks them personally and spreads fake news about them, it is a totally different story. Don't mix the two things. With "Perfect Crown" no one is spreading fake news about anyone. Except that one IU song they always keep bringing up almost every year.
You can defend your faves all you like, but you can barely see anyone do it the right way. Like I said above many times. Most people just say, "You're jobless, a hater, an idiot" and so on. That's not defending, that's just fueling the fire.
Why are people arguing with Knezt? International fans have zero power anyway, and it's not like MBC let alone Disney, will listen to 50 or 100K petitions. Just shut up and move on, and the so-called haters will move on too. But no, fans, the media, and even the production team keep talking nonsense. One side is just obsessed, the other side can earn more money thanks to the negative PR. That's why Disney made "Perfect Crown" available in many more countries now. They had never done such a thing before, btw. Not with licensed Kdramas.
"Most importantly, you repeatedly accuse others of lacking nuance while presenting your own stance as the sole rational interpretation. The irony is that your argument talks about nuance but doesnât apply itâyou go from âsomeâ to âmostâ to âeveryoneâ within the same thread. Thatâs why your statements read as absolute, even if you donât intend them to be."
Do you know why I used "most", "some" or "everyone" in different sentences? Because all 3 were about different topics.
I will spell this out for you, AGAIN!
"Most people" don't care about the story in a ROMCOM.
"Some" fans are calling me a hater or a fake fan.
Just like saying "EVERYONE" who doesn't like it is a hater.
I love how SOME Kdrama fans always prove my point so easily.
"No one is asking you to love Perfect Crown."
Can you stop talking about this? I told you this so many times but still don't get it. My statement was NEVER about what people like.
I NEVER said my OPINION or my REVIEW about anything is a FACT, I said stating the obvious flaws of the writing, directing or even acting CAN BE a fact! Especially if it's done by someone who knows more about it than the average viewer.
For the record, I defended both IU and BWS when people said their acting is shit. I literally told everyone their characters are poorly written, barely any depth. and the directing was also done poorly. Like, the director himself came out and said BWS's performance wasn't perfect and it's mainly his (the directors) fault too. That's how acting work. If the script and the director are not good enough you can hire Meryl Streep it's gonna be better, but SOME people never pay attention.
"You can dislike something without demanding that everyone else justify why they donât share the same viewpoint."
Now please use the same attitude and call out the so-called fans too for saying people who don't rate this drama 10 are haters and jobless. Don't be a hypocrite. I hate hypocrites more than bad writing.
"If the goal is to have a meaningful discussion, then acknowledging that different viewers value different things is a far stronger starting point than declaring your taste the universal metric."
I will say this one last time, the next time you mentioned this I won't be this kind because I'm fed up with this nonsense.
I never mentioned TASTE in my comments. I was talking about FACTUAL INFORMATION like bad writing and directing. Those are facts, like it or not. Doesn't matter how much you, me, or anyone else loves something. You can love the worst written movie of all-time but it won't change the fact that it was poorly written.
I think I said enough. I don't want to continue this because I'm just wasting my time. You're talking about a totally different things my first comment was about.
I will rewatch it till I can rate it 10. Can someone give me at least 1 more episode? đ
Jokes aside, the finale was maybe a bit rushed, but overall this is easily the best drama of 2026 and it's in my TOP10 of all time without any question.
I usually don't care about these things, but Dongman and Euna are the best couple of the year. Not because they were cute together or had steamy kissing scenes, but because we can rarely see 2 main characters who are in love written this naturally. Not to mention the acting.
Longer review a bit later. Maybe if I watched it again.
I think itâs fair to call out both extremes, but equating genuine appreciation of a drama with âtoxic positivityâ…
"your entire argument relies heavily on absolutes"
There are zero absolutes in my comments because it's not about what people like or not. It's about fools on both sides arguing with each other about nothing. If that's not a fact, I don't know what is. I don't care about which actor people like; that's not my point either, but it is a FACT, and now I have to say this out loud: most Kdrama fans are obsessed when it comes to their faves and never want to give a lower score than 10/10.
But again, that's not my problem. The problem here is 1 side has completely lost the plot, and the thing Perfect Crown is perfect. The other side is too fixated on a historical part when in reality the drama doesn't even follow its own rules. So, as I said, both sides are arguing about nothing.
Boycotting another copy-and-paste average and poorly written romcom is ridiculous. Just like saying everyone who doesn't like it is a hater. I'm only stating the obvious; if that's absolute, it's not my fault.
What connections are you talking about? I didn't see too many people talking about the story or the acting, let alone the writing. All they talk about is the cute romance scenes.
It is the case btw, just look at the ratings on MDL. At least 90% of the romcoms have higher ratings than 8.5. Why? Because 2 pretty leads can carry the most boring romcoms because most people don't watch dramas for the plot; they want to see cute people falling in love.
And when you want to point out the bad writing, they call you a hater or jobless.
I could go on about why we should dismiss the entire work done by the crew, but most people wouldn't like it. They just want blind love. Like, I'm fed up with the same old Kdrama fan excuses, "They worked hard, they deserve the 10/10."
I don't care. If the writing is inconsistent, the writer can't stick to their rules, like in Perfect Crown, the hard work is in the bin. But that's not my point now, because there's no point arguing about script writing with most Kdrama fans because they don't care.
"You also repeatedly state your opinions as if they are objective facts. Saying the writing, directing, and cinematography were a âhot messâ is still ultimately your subjective interpretation, not some universally accepted truth."
Such things as writing, directing and cinematography are NOT judged by personal taste. It's like judging a car if it's fast enough or not. Simple as that. Just because a LOT of Kdrama fans don't care about these things, they just want a "brain-off cute romance" drama, doesn't mean what I say is not true.
Like, are you telling me this drama deserves a 10/10? For what exactly? If this drama is a 10/10 what score should we give to a drama that was written properly? In Perfect Crown there is ZERO character development. If anything Huiju became less interesting and boring. She literally said in the 2nd episode she want to get married for Ian's title. Then 1 kiss and she falls in love. And what's worse, in the finale she says, "I never wanted title." This is literally a character suicide. I don't mind changing your view especially if you fall in love but why the lie?
As for Ian. He always wanted to be a King, wanted to protect who he loves but in 90% of the season he barely did anything. If Huiju doesn't ask him to get married, he would be left alone. Not to mention the fact that he put Jinmu and the jealous boy in prison but let the Queen Mother run free, who killed his brother and wanted to burn alive her own son. And even better, he became an unemployed housewife in the finale that Huiju, whom we saw in EP1 would've kicked out in a second.
PM guy just became a villain randomly. Just like Jinmu. No buildup whatsoever. Is this not enough? The writer said this is a constitutional monarchy and Korea is free, yet they're using the same old Chinese traditions. No wonder people are angry because she couldn't stick to her own rules.
The chemistry was average at best. IU had 3 different relationships in "Tangerines" and all 2 had much better writing and chemistry with barely any kissing scenes, btw. What atmosphere? Other than the boring outfits, IU having the same nails for 3 years, she had more outfits and styling in 1 episode of "Hotel del Luna" than in the entire "Perfect Crown". As for the performance. I'm sorry, but they never had too many opportunities to showcase their acting skills because their characters never had real depth.
This is why the PM guy and Queen Mother were more interesting. They were poorly written, but at least they did something.
I could go on all day about how many plot holes are in this drama, but what's the point? And my main point wasn't even about this.
"Holding them responsible for institutional failures makes far less sense than directing criticism toward the people actually managing those decisions."
Again, I never said actors should be blamed. I'm not sure why you are talking about that. You're trying to put everyone in the same category. At least I say SOME or MOST. This is why I said this is too much. Haters and blind fans are both crazy.
"And regarding fans âdefendingâ the actors, people are reacting because the actors themselves became the public face of the backlash. You cannot simultaneously acknowledge that actors unfairly shoulder the blame while also mocking fans for speaking up when they are dragged into controversies they did not create."
As I said above, they don't need defending. This mess would've been over already if people just shut up and moved on. Just because you see a hate comment doesn't mean you have to reply.
Just because you fight with everyone on SNS doesn't mean they will stop hating on your fave drama. Also, it's not like the defenders have real arguments. They just call people haters, jobless, or say this drama is perfect and just fiction. These are not arguments, just typical fan behavior.
"The reality is much simpler: some people loved the drama, some disliked it, and others fell somewhere in between. None of those reactions are inherently more intellectually superior than the other."
Like I said, if the shoe fits, it's not my fault.
Anyway, if people love arguing about nothing, just go on, but don't call everyone a hater if you give them ammunition.
The cardigan scene was better imo, though some didn't like it.
Exactly. Love is not something you can only portray by saying "I love you" or with kisses. I can kiss anyone or say I love you, but that doesn't really mean I love them.
I think itâs fair to call out both extremes, but equating genuine appreciation of a drama with âtoxic positivityâ…
All I can say is, "If the shoe fits..."
I think I was 100% clear and obvious. If someone feels targeted, there's a reason for it.
I said my piece about this drama and wrote my review as well and moved on, but so many people are still fighting about it like their lives depend on it.
Knetz are absolutely batshit crazy because they care more about this bang-average romcom than real problems in their country.
As for the toxic positivity people. Now, they're not only fighting with Knetz or PC haters, but found another opponent, the "My Royal Nemesis." Like, WHY?
People who hate on this drama or love it and can't stop fighting about it obviously didn't watch a second of it or don't love it at all. They just want to fight because they're bored. One coming with the historical inaccuracy, even though that's the least problematic part of the story imo. The other side comes with the usual "Everyone is a hater and jobless." and mentions the totally irrelevant ratings and achievements. This is a kindergarten fight between kids.
"Saying âcritical thinking is deadâ because others enjoyed a drama differently feels like an oversimplification. People can engage critically with a series and still find value in it, strong performances, or emotional resonance. Those things are not mutually exclusive."
I didn't say "criticial thinking is dead" because people enjoy dramas differently. I never cared about what other people think for a second. Everyone can enjoy whatever they want. The reason I said this is because both sides I mentioned above only know 1 side of the story. There's no middle ground.
If you love an actor or anything in a drama, you have to rate it 10/10, or you're a hater. I'm a massive IU fan and rate this 6/10. Some fans calling me a hater or a fake fan, other people are asking me why it's only 6/10 and not 1/10. This is the reason I said critical thinking is dead.
I've seen more people talking about BWS eating IU's face alive than the actual story. That says it all.
Anyone who looks at my watchlist can see I don't really give 9s for many things, let alone 10s but that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy some 7/10 dramas or even 6/10s. You can enjoy anything while acknowledging or at least accepting that it's not perfect.
"As for the claim that âno one would care without IU,â thatâs quite reductive. While IU is undeniably a major draw, it dismisses the work of the entire productionâthe writing, direction, cinematography, and Byeon Wooseokâs performance as well, which many viewers also connected with. A dramaâs reception is rarely built on one person alone, especially one that sustains viewership and discussion across multiple platforms."
I don't dismiss anything; I'm only stating a fact. If a drama or a movie doesn't have a huge star on the cover, it's not going to be mainstream. That's all I said; writing, directing, other actors, etc. doesn't matter.
For example, "We Are All Trying Here" is in a completely different league when it comes to acting, writing, or directing, yet barely any people are talking about it. This is how the world works. This is why Perfect Crown is in the mud right now. I could name at least 100 historical dramas that are also inaccurate, but people don't want to boycott those because those are not mainstream. It doesn't matter how hard a crew is working on something; it's rare for a Kdrama to become mainstream without a famous actor.
Also, "the writing, direction, and cinematography" all 3 were a hot mess in Perfect Crown. The writer couldn't even follow the rules she set in her own imaginary world. There was zero story or character buildup; things just happened randomly. If you removed the leads and gave it to less popular actors, no one would care about it. This is a fact; it doesn't matter if people don't want to accept it.
It doesn't matter how much people like a show later on, because the only reason they were tuning in is the leads. And the minute that happens, at least 80% of Kdrama fans will ignore the story itself because they care about the romance anyway. This is the main reason the crew didn't care about the historical accuracy in the first place.
"A dramaâs reception is rarely built on one person alone, especially one that sustains viewership and discussion across multiple platforms."
IU is the one and only Korean actor with a back-to-back #1 drama. I think that alone proves my point.
"And regarding the statement about MBC, thatâs more of a personal opinion than a universal truth. Actors and production teams work within complex industry systems, and reducing those decisions to something so absolute ignores how the industry actually functions."
Well, anyone can see that MBC doesn't give a damn about the people who they should protect. They're in a silent mode. I would never want to work for a company like them.
"IU and Byeon Wooseok, like any professionals in the industry, choose projects based on their scripts"
Yes, but actors only get the script for the first episode or 2. IU herself said she didn't know how the story would continue because the script wasn't done yet, and they were already shooting EP10.
The funny thing is, Perfect Crown was decent up to EP6 and then went on a massive downhill since.
"Actors are not in a position to control production-level controversies or corporate decisions"
Yet they are the ones who have to deal with the blame. This is my point. If they're not in this position, actors should never apologize for anything related to the story. It's the job of the company, the director, the producers, and most importantly, the writer who created this mess. MBC didn't just hire a rookie writer, but they didn't hire her a competent crew that could check the script before it was done.
"Itâs completely valid to critique a drama, but dismissing those who enjoyed it or the work as a whole doesnât really strengthen the argument."
As I already told you above, people who love this drama and still fighting with people aren't any better than the haters. They always say, "I'm just defending my fave." Why? They don't need any defending. They have multiple legal teams. They can defend them.
No, these people just want to fight. There's no deep meaning to it.
You loved this drama? Good, move on and watch it again or watch something else.
You hate this drama? Good for you. Move on and watch something else.
People are bored; that's why they're fighting with everyone.
I've heard him say things like he wants to date young girls so many times and said other pedo things multiple times. We've all seen the videos and pictures of him with the girl. Those aren't AI-made.

I feel like romcoms making people dumber and, most importantly, making them forget what real love is and how it should be portrayed.
This is why in Kdramas the romance is shallow and a lot of times has no depth and meaning. It's basically just fan service.
Not hiding how you feel is one of the best qualities a person can have, and that's Dongman. If you paid attention, you know he was nice with people who were actually nice to him. Like his best friend, the younger director, not to mention his brother or Euna.
"emotional storytelling, chemistry, atmosphere, performances"
As the saying goes: Actions speak louder.
Critical thinking in Kdrama land is dead. Surprising? Not really. The funny thing is, if you removed IU, no one would care about this drama this much.
If Korean actors read the news and had working brains, they would never work with MBC.
