I love the message at the end, as we get a glimpse of the hardships and suffering during the IMF crisis. Furthermore, Tae Poon is not poisoned by thoughts of revenge, but sees the big picture of people impacted by decisions, needing to survive by making a living. For him, an apology settles what is needed. I also like that success is a result of caring for people - as opposed to punching down and viewing competitors and something to be annihilated and eliminated. I really enjoyed this show, the message is was conveying on family, friendships, survival and love.
So grateful they perservered to bring this to screen after so much effort. Based on that, I think that also may have been why only 12 episodes, but they put so much into each episode, and the finale was heartwarming. I love the growth arc for the young people and the level of understanding reached between the Mom and the daughter - etc., These webtoon adaptations have for me been such a pleasant surprise this year - this and Study Group.
I look at highly rated older dramas and some of these new dramas are as good if not better than higher rated older ones. At this point, the ratings are meaningless and just trust what resonates with you. It has been a wild year regarding ratings.
I like the setup for potential romance of the 2nd leads. Often the 2nd FL has the feel of getting a consolation prize, but the 2nd ML is a gem, and both have a chance for happiness. I hope it works out!
I love the depiction of teenage angst and anxiety - what stresses them and self esteem anxieties. As this is based on a webtoon it is true to the feel and depiction in a webtoon
Ratings are lowest with younger group. I am in old group and like this because the 80s and 90s were so tough and the story of struggle, bonds of family and coworkers persevering resonates in spite of some dramatic plot developments
This story could fit into 12 episodes mold. It’s getting tiring, so many hardships and tiny wins, it’s like…
Similarly my life. Our family business so hard to build and we had just moved onto a new bigger building a new lease when my father died. Nobody wanted to but the company and we had to reassure our customers we could still deliver products and services. My brother took over as CEO and my mother’s retirement was delayed. I can only hope that like our struggle and thanks to the loyalty of our family of employees we managed to endure and thrive the economy and opportunities improved. Let’s hang in there and wish gor goid things
looking at the preview for ep 13 showing more problems, I was hoping they start showing growth and success to a bigger company, instead of all of in in last 2 episodes - 15 and 16.
we need some episodes showing success and growth. Would hate to have it all crammed into final 2 episodes. I love that this drama shows the power of working together - each team member brings something that helps the whole. I loved grannie talking to his mom - that her efforts are seen. I love that the cleaning ladies were called VIP's. I loved the exploration of what is most precious to each person. There was lots of good stuff in these recent episodes.
not so much for me, I just wish the FL characters didn't so much baggage to make them unlikeable, instead of not revealing until later what it is that is good about the FL. One of my earliest dramas (which makes me somewhat of a noob) is CLOY. The FL is a rich brat, but she also had spunk and charm. The ML doesn't know what to make of her at first. Granted, there is no built in history of a childhood connection, but in terms of having that trope work, it is but one example of many. JMHO, and MANY on my social media network really like this drama, so I am the outlier there. As for patience, I grew up with shows lasting many seasons over the years, so I know how to wait for things to develop, given the incentive to do so. I don't want to bash other people liking this drama or assume I know best, but in terms of preference, this is what is challenging me for this particular drama.
I normally don't mind height difference but FL is SO small looking compared to both ML and 2ML it makes her look…
I like the ML being so tall as it accentuates the comedy and dramatic moments when he bends over to look her directly in the eye. Also that someone who looks so petite has him totally flummoxed.
