They don’t really talk about it. XY pieces it together years later after XL tips her off. But it’s an admission through confrontation. There is nothing written about the scheme.

Uggg I read the same scene in the novel between XY and XL on the shore after he tried to drown her and the show is giving me way different feels than the novel did.

I felt like in the book it was implied he wanted her to rely on him to breathe underwater but in the show he directly calls it kissing so he is directly trying to be affectionate with her or get her to be affectionate.

In the book I read the dreams as in allowing him too much into her life. But in the drama it was that he wasn’t the kind of guy she should end up with and it scared her that she was allowing it to happen. Which is her admitting that she is starting to like him (romantically).

I don’t know if I’m missing something from the book. But I much love the show more right now for adding this element of angst and XL as a potential romantic interest.

It’s sad but I felt like that was also the act that established how much he cared about her. He also doesn’t take credit for removing the bug.

I think he always knew that one day he would die in battle which is why he didn’t ever want to tell her he had any feelings for her. And he wanted to XY to feel like she didn’t matter to him so it wouldn’t hurt her or make her feel abandoned when he died.

He does it before he goes into battle (knowing he will die in battle).

I noticed this too. So sad because he was the smartest by far in the book.

So to tie me over between episodes, I went and read the novel (link is above in the discussion topics). The translator did a great job translating. I highly recommend reading it if you’re loving the drama and don’t mind spoilers.

My thoughts having read the novel over the past 4 days is TSJ is my first choice for XY but XL is my favourite character (maybe of all time or at least close to the top of my xianxia list).

They didn’t mention it in the drama but in the book it was because he couldn’t see her real form which only some powerful like the weapon inside her could conceal her true form from him.

He supposedly lost weight for this role and it makes sense because his character in the book is often referred to as sickly and thin looking.

Especially since it hasn’t passed censorship yet.

I love that her dad goes full on dad mode and reminding TSJ that he has an engagement with FFYY. I felt like that was his warning to not mess with his daughter when you’re a taken man.

Yes it’s definitely great. I really liked the Korean version too. I think mainly because ost was more modern and the series was more condensed but the original told the story better.

Yes scarlet heart was much more palatable to watch all at once.

In the book jing mentions that her killing of the fox was justified. And that even his grandmother would side with her.

Lol. He is the TSJ choice and her mom chose the XL 😜

I think it’s just highlighting that no one is perfect.

But there’s no romance between them. And lots of XX dramas have a cousin in love with a lead that doesn’t reciprocate the feelings.

She also referred to same grandmother and grandfather as CX.

I felt like the reason her mother left for war was her obligation to the people as a princess. If she was some random disciple of the empress then she really left XY for nothing.

No. XL saves him. For her sake. This is why CX is the worst.

I’m over halfway through the novel and his dad and her mom are siblings. Is that not the case? Then why do they have the same grandparents?
