Finally a kdrama that shows how conflicts can be handled in a mature way. Tae Poong and Mi Seon actually try to understand each other instead of holding grudges and they are not afraid to voice their opinion, even if they differ. The conflicts are not stretched and there are no unnessecary misunderstandings so far. I hope it'll stay that way until the end of the drama.
I'd like to talk about a scene from episode 5, the one where Tae Poong's mom visited Nam Mo's mom's restaurant in order to congratulate her for the start of her new business.
In this scene, we see how Jeong Mi feels inferior compared to her friend. Unlike Nam Mo's mother, Jeong Mi hasn't managed to stand up on her own feet and after her husband's death, her life has been shattered to pieces. She's aware of the fact that compared to her husband and son, she lacks the business type of brain and now she feels sorry for not stepping up and take matters into her own hands.
I know that some people have expressed their dislike towards Tae Poong's mom childish and clueless behavior. But her attitude makes perfect sense considering her background. Throughout her whole life, she relied on her husband for money and she got immersed in Tae Poong's upbringing. Like many other women of her times, she was mostly a housewife and she didn't have to worry about bringing money on the table. She lived a comfortable life and she was happy with her loved ones. But now everything has changed and she is more than aware of that.
I think that the writers are setting her up for something more, besides being there for Tae Poong. She might develop a business of her own or contribute in a different way to Typhoon Trading. Either way, I love this character so much and I hope we'll see more of her and Tae Poong.
Having watched the first four episodes, I can confidently say that if the quality remains the same, Typhoon Family might become my most favorite drama released in 2025.
Why can’t he defend himself, he’s always getting beat
I think that it's logical he's not a fighter. We had seen in other scenes, like the metro chase, that he relies on his surroundings rather his physical strength. He's not a trained fighter, he was a regular person doing drug business.
Some of the complaints regarding the mood of the drama and the story are so hilarious. You people want trauma porn, just say it out loud. Yes, the crisis was a very serious issue and I agree that it should be depicted accordingly but that doesn't mean that the drama as a whole should be full of misery and pain. People can still be happy and experience good things even under difficult circmustances.
I am not even a big fan of romance subplots and yet I see no reason why we shouldn't have a romance loveline between Tae Poong and Mi Seon. They are young people, it's logical that they'll develop feelings for each other. So far, the romance is not the focus of the main story and their ddevelopment is handled very well. The actors have great chemistry and their interactions are natural. Just because they live in a crisis that doesn't mean they are not allowed to experience romantic love. Yes, romantic relationships are not their priority for the moment but it can co-exist alongside their other issues.
I love the lighthearted moments between the characters and the comedic elements that tone down the sadness. The series is doing an amazing job so far, it doesn't belittle people's problems nor add too much drama for the sake of it. Everything feels very realistic and I hope it stays that way.
Absolutely love the bond between Typhoon Trading's employees. I love how they help each other and how they stick together no matter what. I hope that will not change by adding unnecessary drama and misunderstandings, let my found family stay together
