Monster what a stupid comparison. MLs acting like this are villians theyre not excused what nonsense are you spouting
I didn't compare Johan with the female leads (although, even in his case, his actions can be understood). I compared them with Eva, who was also a flawed female character. My point is that flawed female characters should be criticized properly. People can dislike them, yes, but they should learn to apply some nuanced judgement too.
I defended Eva Heinemann from Monster, I'll have no problem trying to understand the female leads in Honour. No, I do not support all of their actions but what's this obsession with people who demand that women in media should always be polished? The series isn't even trying to frame them as perfect and morally right, we see that they have their own issues and that they are hypocritical at times. I suggest we wait until more episodes gets released before we'll jump into conclusions.
I have watched up until episode 7 and I want to say that it's so refreshing they didn't drag that (fake) love triangle subplot. Yoon Bom doesn't like Ijun romantically, she just felt grateful for his polite gestures and she was interested in him being a lawyer because she could rely on his help about her case. No need to have the two male leads constantly fight for Bom's attention and no need to make her be conflicted for the majority of the drama. Based on some snippets I've seen online, the following episodes included some cute scenes of Bom and Jae Gyu, I cannot wait to binge the rest of the episodes!
As much as I love the corruption story and how Han Young's going after Sin Jin and the rest of the politicians, what I live for in this drama are the quiet domestic scenes between Han Young and the people he care about. Watching the scenes with his family enhances the contrast with his previous life and it makes me feel so happy to see him make up for his past mistakes and becoming a better person. The dynamic with his parents is funny and sweet and I love their interactions.
His friendship with Jeong Ho is a highlight on its own, Jisung and Won Seok sold the dynamic from early on and I'm looking forward to their scenes in every episode. Both of them made some mistakes in the past and now they're trying to live righteous by standing up for what's right and helping those in need.
As for Mal Rye and her granddaughter, I LOVE their scenes! I felt for them so much in the first episodes and I feel so happy that they are receing so much help from han Young. Their relationship is very heartwarming, I love how Mal Rye cares for her granddaughter and how she doesn't want to burden her grandmother any further. I'm rooting for them so hard.
I knw that this is a legal drama first and foremost but these slice-of-life bits we're getting add so much to the story and the characters. The writers are doing an excellent job balancing them.
yeah thats why romance genre kdrama on netflix can sell if you have a huge fandom and looks. jisung, lee jehoon…
As long as The Judge Returns is getting its flowers, be it South Korea or not, I'm content. Unfortunately, international viewers won't always be drawn to non-romance stories or series that are not easy to digest.
I still think season one was the best of the three but I appreciated two elements of this season: the jettisoning…
The fanserving in season 2 was really irritating, you could tell that the only reason the writers did it was to please the shippers. And while I have nothing against the ship itself, when the writers are trying too hard to sell one ship, it's very annoying.
I will binge watch the last 3 episodes but honestly, so far the show is a 7.5-8 for me. The acting is good, the direction matches with the noir and political theme but the story and the writing fall short in some areas. Maybe the second season will elevate it.
So with the kid in a wheelchair's case...did they completely forget that the hospital is forcing unwanted pregnancies…
Yeah, that was a grip of mine too, they kinda overlooked the abortion issue and while I appreciate that they addressed it, they could have found a better conclusion. I understand however that tackling such a controversial theme in a country which still deems abortion as a crime is difficult, so hopefully we'll see more future projects portray it even better.
This series keeps gettings better and better. The tonal shift (which happens in the webtoon too) really elevated the story even more. I like how they blend comedy and darker themes together, without making the result too overpacked. Jisung delivers a great performance, I love Han Young and I'm rooting for his success in his second chance of life. Watching him developing and learning from his past mistakes is very heartwarming and I personally love his interactions with people from his past life, particularly his parents.
I am looking forward to this week's episodes, I am very excited for the confrontation between Han Young and Sin Jin.
I don't get one thing about these back in time dramas.. they die at older age and come back to younger self with…
In this particular case, I think that the thrill of getting a second chance and fix his mistakes is what makes him act like this. He is still adjusting, this is why he sometimes switches to his older self in order to not confuse those around him. He is excited because now he has the opportunity to be a better person and a better judge.
