Both MLs are substantial characters, which isn’t always the case. I like JP but I like DS more and I’m rooting for him. He and DM have a romantic connection and chemistry that just isn’t there with JP. The letters that DM took to heart were partly written but her grandmother, by someone who existed in her imagination…she has no chemistry with the real man.

I love the scriptwriter's comment on Hongmei. At present she lacks backbone and confidence; she abandons her husband in hopes of getting a better live with CEO, rather than struggling to improve her life herself. This is not a culmination for her, it's a first step. I hope we will have the chance to see how experience reshapes her character and makes her stronger.

This drama is very popular in China, currently #2 based on tv ratings according to Marcus Sim, so maybe there’s hope for a season 2.

How disappointing 🙁

I have a strong feeling there will be a season 2. A picture in the opening photo montage shows XS in a wedding dress…I can’t see a wedding materializing in this season’s finale.

Thank you for your clarity and patience in explaining the details! I feel I understand the relationship between Yinghai and TK, and what XM is doing but could not explain it as you have done. A key point you’ve made is that XM has done nothing unethical! XS’s obsession with proving he is corrupt is not explored or discussed, but it’s an important character point as well as plot point.

The decision to separate TK from Yinghai has already been taken, and if that goes through, reconciliation between XS and XM may be possible. But if she intervenes to prevent that, and gets XM fired and disgraced, I can’t see a future for them. For XM it’s not just about the money,
it’s about getting from under the heels of the fat cats at Yinghai . Of course, given that the president likes and admires XM’s talent, another alternative may arise in the next three episodes…

I agree, XM deserves to benefit from the serious risk he took to save his uncle, his uncle’s company and himself. How people interpret his struggle for survival as ‘scheming and manipulation’ is beyond me. It makes me wonder if we are watching the same drama… SX’s response will reveal whether she’s grown out of her rigid, black or white way of seeing the world. If she has, she might be able to revise her judgement of XM and reconcile with him.

@Soulful queen In ep 32 we see her begin to realize that the rules are not working, but as you say, there are only 10 eps left. I'm praying that changes fast enough to reconcile with XM. His uncle is already pushing Yao at him, but in his vulnerable state it might be heard for him to keep resisting, especially as her money would save everything. It would heartbreaking for him to end up marrying Yeo

@DKCZ: XM is playing to keep his uncle alive and his uncle’s business viable as much out of love and loyalty as any desire to win. He advised XS against accepting the promotion and predicted the kind of difficulties she would face, even the conflict of interest their relationship would create. XS was naive and optimistic about her ability to succeed against the odds. She does not play dirty, but she does not play wise either, especially re HLL. Why on earth did she stay in her office with the door closed while he abused her? Why did she visit him in hospital when he made it clear how much he hates her? Her lack of EQ is a significant weakness.

@Ru Yi : I totally agree. Also, XM’s choices are constrained by his love and loyalty to HLL, whom he knows is not a good guy, but who will certainly have another stroke if XM does not break off with XS. Drama-wise, XM’s dilemma is pure gold and Mark Chou is perfectly casting.

I thought he looked familiar. Loved him in TRP and love him as the CEO too…he’s kinda mature hot.

Came to this to fill time between YAMG and SOY drops. I'm at ep 13 and still watching, but not moved by DD's acting; she seems like an early version of Changge in TLB. She does better in contemporary roles, she's adorable in YAMG. I don't mind Vic Chou's hair and quite like his non-macho way of being; it seems appropriate for head of the Etherial sect. ZBB is always eye candy, but his acting also seems the same as in other dramas. I'm not sure I'll make to ep 52 tho...

I like that he struggles to win the FL's love. He's the opposite of the cold, distant ML and that's refreshing.

If he did that there would be no drama lol

@Amisris Dratkwa: This is so well-said! The details bring reality and sweetness and the timing makes YT’s change believable. I agree that he needs to pursue JJ, to heal her heart and to make her believe he truly loves her.

Some viewers are addicted to the fast rush of ‘sugar’ in fluffy romantic dramas and can’t deal with anything slower or deeper.
