Yes, that is the reality of it: in a world where LWY would never have existed, JL would likely perish as well.
What you’re pointing out is essentially a classic bootstrap paradox.

Logically, that would be true if every version of his suicide always happened the exact same way.
Because the loop seems to work like this:
LWY exists → enters the time loop → realizes she cannot save him through ordinary means → goes back to the point when JL is at his loneliest → prevents his death → JL survives and becomes LS → JY creates LWY to get close to JL → All the events that lead to LWY to go back to the moment when she severed her tail to give hope to JL
This order of event which creates a closed causal loop.
So LWY’s existence depends on JL surviving, while JL surviving depends on LWY existing. That is the paradox.
What JL does at the end of episode 29 appears to break that loop, which is why it can resolve the contradiction. He introduces a new choice outside the repeating chain of cause and effect.
There is a caveat to this, though he made those decisions in episode 29 with knowledge of the loop given by Lonescale
However, they did a poor job of showcasing the paradox, as there was a "fated one" who must live while the other must die. It literally means that, because if you look at the loop, the other person is the reason the other one is alive/exist

I can just answer your post, Yes JL go back to save LWY, basically prevented her from every becoming who she is from episode 1 to episode 29 when she is possesed by JY.
Where he save her was when she was first originally created. So everything that happen from episode 1-29 Never happen.
So only WSG remember this
It open ended if JL remember this (he most likely does) but he choose to live as Ji Ling before he become Dragon deity living as a carefree fox meeting LWY (The same LWY he save) in this new world or could be the same world we cant tell for sure.

Yeah, the LJ ending is definitely sentimental or even sad, because before the world changed to the new timeline... He was actually hopeful... he even told WSG that "That he finally figured out who he is" and asked WSG to tell LJ when he is reborn after 1,000 years 😭😭😭
But afterward in episode 29, he asks himself, maybe he figured out who I am... But he was still hopeful
But this kinda confirm that only WSG remember the old timeline

We literally don't know they could have gone to a timeline where the star stone never landed

The dragon sons would never need to sacrifice themself

LWY going through everything was needed so she can go back in time to prevent JL from committing suicide back in the cave with his A'Wu.
In no world can those two really exist without the other. LWY was created specifically to get close to JL, but JL is also alive because LWY existed
