I just finished watching and I cant wait for Season 2! I want the same main four back! I thought the second couple was actually cute! From start to finish I enjoyed it! Teaching is definitely not for the faint of heart!
I am on episode 6 and I can tell you someone did their homework…someone understood the assignment. As an educator for almost twenty years I can tell you every scenario presented is scary accurate. I have seen teachers literally run out of the classroom in horror, a lot of schools stopped holding teacher conferences in the teacher’s classroom. Instead all teachers hold conferences in a large area like the gym. This is for the protection of the teachers. There is always at least one parent who may be physically and/or verbally abusive. I especially loved seeing the bullies in ep 6 get a taste of their own medicine. I have friends whose sons/grandsons were enrolled in reformatories. One had a mother like the ones who thought their money could save their son. He ended up in prison and served 25 years. One’s grandson left with a new mindset. He turned his life around. He is a law abiding citizen and father of seven. I had two sons and a daughter. My husband believed in tough love. He was ex military . He pulled no punches. He mentored young boys in middle school and church. Eight years after his death they still speak kindly of him. I love series like this that dare to expose reality. Yes, they take liberties. It is afterall intended to entertain us. It is not a documentary. But we get the message. This is intended for all of us because we are all accomplices in one way or another. Kudos to everyone associated with this gem.
What I like about this is how we see how things from different perspectives. Teachers are no longer respected . The ability to discipline students has been taken away. When you restore proper discipline you will also restore respect. There must be accountability. Cyberbullying has led to the destruction of careers and even suicide. Still just like in the series there are those who take every opportunity to change the narrative to fit their own personal ambitions. The cast is awesome.
I know this is fiction but I was cringing during the first part of ep 1 and then the new teacher showed up. Excuse me if I experience a little deja vu. That teacher reminded me of my high school history teacher. Corporal punishment was allowed. Disrespect was not tolerated. Bullying was dealth with. Even in areas where gangs festered the schools were safe havens. When I look at movies like this I have to question where are the teachers. They always seem to not be in the classrooms or in any of the student populated areas. Where are the administrators? Truthfully I have watched teachers turn a deaf ear. I have even heard a few assert that the bullied student should just toughen up! I have also taught at a school where students felt because their parents held high ranking positions they were exempt from serious consequences. I personally do not condone using physical punishment to solve problems but I abhor bullies of any kind. This is fiction but somewhere there is a student who will go home, enter his or her room and never come out. And sometimes it has the opposite affect. My own son was a high school freshman. We didnt know he was being bullied. Luckily purely by accident we discovered the gun he had found in his grandmother’s drawer. I still hate to think of what might have happened but he said he had reached his breaking point. We contacted the school. Intervention was provided. However. We transferred him to a different school. This focuses on the school environment but I think it is a societal problem because I have observed bullies in the workplace and in my country bullies seem to be running rampant at all levels. I dont where this series is headed but I am going to stay with it for now.
Poom really raised the bar with this episode. He really captured Wayu’s pain. His tears seemed so real I was crying. And I didnt expect his mother and sister to be so comforting. I do understand Krit. He only broke up to protect Wayu. Things are only going to get worse for Wayu and Krit.
Exactly! U put my thoughts in words by saying " u can't live with them but u can't live without them"…
Excellent observation. There is a meaning to every thing which continues to reflect their current state. Outstanding analysis. I also could not help thinking about Vegas and Pete in the bl KinnPorshe. As much as I wanted to hate Vegas I just couldnt.
Exactly! U put my thoughts in words by saying " u can't live with them but u can't live without them"…
Love your analysis. I think this is why even as observers many are in an emotional stalemate. Our glimmer of hope keeps being extinguished. Kudos to you. A+.
I finally broke down and watched ep9. My personal conclusion….it reminded me of an old saying you cant live with him and you cant live without them. These are two people who are mentally and emotionally broken. Despite everything that has happened it is obvious that they still love each other. They just cant find a way out of the hell hole they each are in. There is so much symbolism in this episode…the chains above the bed, the bird cage, the steel doors, the dark colors. I actually laughed at the revolving door of men Lu Feng procured. The reaction or let’s say non reaction of YiChen was epic. They each have become masters at hiding their true feelings. I know the logical response would be move on, stop tormenting yourself, get on with your life. But it not as easy as it seems. I sense ep 10 is going to be even darker.
The more and more I look at clips showing of the upcoming episodes the more I get feelings of dread. Chinese bls are famous for open ended or tragic endings. This feels too much like the ending of Stay With Me where the jealous relation ends up destroying the wrong person. I actually enjoyed ep 8. I may just leave this there. Right now I am enjoying the clips of Ayden and Tong together and looking so happy.
Episode 4 was soooo awesome. It really captured the feeling of being young and the importance of having friends. It feels fresh and authentic. The innocence of first love, the anticipation of a new day, the excitement and anticipation is all encompassed in this series and I am loving it. GMMTV has done it again.
Not some people acting like "poor Tay" like he is getting targeted by people he is a victim, like they…
Sounds like a personal problem to me. I choose to believe Tay. You choose not to. What does that have to do with the series? Absolutely nothing. I am enjoying this series and I respect and support the actors and actresses as well as anyone else who has worked hard on this project.
Love me some Tay and New….they are part of the original couples that put GMMT on the international scene. I have been with them since they were playing teenage lovers. Dark Blue Kiss is still one of my favorites. They never disappoint. I already have a smile on my face. And seeing, Mond and Tui is the icing on the cake. The rest of the cast includes other favorites of mine. Fun and games ahead for sure. I am in until the end.
What I love about series like this is it causes a lot of us to go beyond the surface and really start questioning…
Thank you so much for responding in such a positive manner. It is encouraging to know there are others like me who appreciate it when serious issues and societal norms are addressed without being stereotypical or judgemental.
I already posted my comment on the religious part of the series but after rewatching it, it also brings some personal…
What I love about series like this is it causes a lot of us to go beyond the surface and really start questioning our personal selves and our own beliefs. I am not Catholic but I grew up in a community where Catholics and Protestants had a mutual respect and understanding for one another. The public school I attended was across the street from a Catholic church. The students who were Catholic were allowed to attend special services at the church on Ash Wednesday. Lol..that’s when my brother became Catholic for a day! I met a fellow student in college. She and I became best friends. She was a devout Catholic. Later when she married and was diagnosed with terminal cancer we shared many conversations about our faith. She never expressed any ill will toward God. In fact as her final days drew closer her faith grew stronger. How could God take this beautiful unselfish soul from a loving husband and two young sons? How could God take my best friend from me? The setting for this series is centered around the Catholic church but it could have been any conservative evangelical church steeped in religious theology and doctrine. Even in 2026 the stance on homosexuality stands firm. Over thirty years ago a young man was appointed Youth Leader over my own church organization. He was a born leader. He was a true worshipper. The youth loved him. But somehow it was disclosed that he was gay. He was questioned by the leadership. He did not deny what he was nor would he agree to speak against being gay. He was striped of his position. He was not thrown out of the church. He left on his own accord. Despite changes in society the churche’s stance remains the same. I am anxious to see how this subject is going to be handled in this series. I applaud GMMTV for not resting on its current laurels and sticking with the tried and true bl. Sometimes we need to step outside the box.
The first episode was intense! What a great start! Gemini and Fourth are awesome! Get your tissues ready! Put your emotional seatbelts on. This is going to be some ride!
