This last episode was so much fun to watch. I just love the part when Rain gave the guy two good kicks and said the only one who could screw him is Phayu. I don’t know why but Boss and Noeul make me think of MaxTul. I would love to see them in another series. They are so much fun to watch. I guess the next episodes will focus on the next couple. I can’t wait.
Overall I liked it enough to put on my rewatch list. However I do feel the relationship between the son and boyfriend was too rushed. I would also like to see Rex play a role other than a houseboy. This was too similar to Daddy Love. The performances by all three were strong especially the father. Here is a man who has repressed his feelings for so long and obviously loved his wife and son. Now he’s like a butterfly who has left the safety of his cocoon and just wants to fly freely. There is remorse and mutual respect from all three. Love how the father is so angry one minute and then rational the next moment. The consummate queen.
I think everyone needs to read this interview with Punnasak (the creator of the series) to really understand what…
Thank you. I agree. It was very enlightening and also an affirmation of much of what has been stated by so many. Based on his ow n words I am not looking forward to the last episode. I already knew it was going to be heart wrenching and without giving any specifics he confirms it.
Wow! Keep those comments coming….Eclipse has 4014 and it’s ending soon too. I Promised You the Moon has 4637….I think KinnPorsche still sits at the top with 16,9734 and Not Me has 13,994. I was just looking at my most recent BLs that I thought had a really great cast and intriguing storyline. Right now I’m also looking at My 12% , Love in the Air and Oh My Sunshine Night! I am so loving these comments. They have even extended into looking at and commenting on the age difference between the two. I personally have never seen myself with anyone either younger than myself or more than four or five years older than myself. But I have friends and relatives who have as much as twenty five years difference and they seem very committed and very happy. My husband and I had been together 50 years when he passed away and he was only 2 years older than myself. Now when someone ask if I would date or marry again I say only if they are 35 or younger. Lol.. when I leave here I want to go out swinging. No rocking chair for me. So the age difference between Wang and In has never been a problem to me. They are both adults. Take care.
I really liked how this episode was handled. To me it had the right amount of remorse and empathy. Glad the butler and that one board member know a snake when they see one. I think Sun senses something wrong with her too. I’m sure they will wrap this up in the next episode. Hopefully she’ll jump off a cliff somewhere.
The point of the show is this "unsettling" relationship. As an audience member, we are meant to sympathize and…
I do get what you are saying. Shows that I enjoy I want to watch again and again. I think I started out enjoying this work but the direction it began to take after the third or fourtepisode changed from enjoyment to curiosity to dismay. As I have stated in previous comments my feeling at this point is they each need to get as far away from each other as possible. Together they are simply too toxic and depressing. I may not even watch the last episode. It reminds me too much of a Shakespearean tragedy.
I have the same thoughts as you. I don't see how this ends well for Wang.Mol is the quintessential pro-active…
Sadly, I agree. I don’t know if it’s possible for people to truly understand how hard it is to break down walls of intolerance and self loathing. I knew a woman like Wang’s mother. Her husband had the same tendacies as Siam. The social culture was on her side so he repressed his true feelings. They had three sons but the marriage ended in divorce. He remained in the closet until his death. Two of the sons had the same tendencies but were no match for the mother. She got her way. They both married. One ended in divorce. The other remained in the closet and adjusted. The mom died. I know she is rolling in her grave. One of her grandsons is openly gay. I’d like to say there is a happy ending. He is estranged from the family. Even from the grave the psychological grip on the family holds firm. There have been lukewarm attempts but I think he does not just want to be tolerated or asked to just tone it down a bit when in our prescience. So that’s why I don’t see a happy ending for Wang. Both In and his mother seem rooted in their fears.
What this show does right, it does nearly perfectly. The camerawork, the editing, the sound, each line of dialogue…
I agree. While I appreciate the uniqueness of this bl and it’s artistry it will not go on my rewatch list. I am not a masochist. What started out for me as a beautiful budding romance has turned into tragedy.
The way i wanted to grab Inn by the balls and tell him to stop being a coward.. but not after I drag this bish…
I am so glad someone else feels the same way. I hate a weak coward of a man and the more I think about In the more I actually am disliking him. Here is this hot young stud who is pouring his heart out and even has the balls you don’t have to stand up to his beast of a mom and all you can do is grab your crutch and wobble out the room. At that point I felt like Wang needs to get away from both of the toxicity of his mother and the cowardice of In. In is still deep in denial and is as closeted as he ever was. Wang needs a fresh break from both. He doesn’t need to be in that bleak prison In has created nor does he need to return the stifling pretentious world his mother will insist on. He is young. He needs to be able to live his truth happily and openly without having to sacrifice parts of himself.
That was intense! For the first time in a drama, as a viewer, I do not know what I want as the outcome. Is there…
I read your entire rant and for me that is the difference between being good and being great. Being good leaves one with a sense of having been sufficiently entertained. You smile and go on your way. Being great fills you up to a point where you feel you will explode if you don’t say what’s on your mind. The experience has been so overwhelming it is hard to believe that the end is at hand. No matter what the outcome the what ifs will hang in the air …. no solution will provide a satisfying resolution. So we vent and ramble and ramble on and on until we come down from the high we have just experienced.
As much as I would like to have a happy ending with Wang and In together I can’t see it. This is the same scenario with the father. The mother probably berated her husband and manipulated In to the point that one killed himself and the other ran away. Now she’s doing the same thing over again. In still lacks the strength to fight back so I can see him retreating back into a dark hole and Wang making the same decision as his father. To save face the mother will do what she does so well… lie, wallow in self-righteousness and use this tragedy to write another award winning series. I hope I’m wrong but this is not a conventional Thai bl where we have become accustomed to love prevailing despite all odds. No this seems to be falling more in line with the overwhelming conventions of society. The mother reminds us that as much as we would like to think that times have changed have they really? Even if Wang lives I can see In giving up and giving in once more….and Wang dying figuratively. Wang’ s mother was not going to have a homosexual husband and I don’t see her having a homosexual son. I really really hope I’m wrong. I will probably read the spoilers next week before watching. If I’m correct in my prognosis I won’t watch. My heart would not be able to take it. With that said the actors are to be commended for an outstanding performance. I had to look back to verify that this really came out of Thailand. Take care.
I am rewatching Tharntype for probably the fifth time. It is one of the first BLs I’ve watched. Since then I’ve watched over 100 BLs. Some I liked a little, some I didn’t like at all. Some have a permanent spot on my rewatch list. I am a big fan of Mew and Gulf. I hope one day they work in another series together. It doesn’t even have to be a bl. I love this series. I feel no need to prove anything to anyone or justify my personal likes/dislikes.
It is such a good book, love to see it in the series.
Thank you. Coming from a very Bible thumping conservative background I am still evolving and learning. I stumbled upon BLs after the death of my husband and the Covid shutdown. I am now an ardent fan and supporter of people living their truth.
It is such a good book, love to see it in the series.
To think this was assigned reading in my high school Senior Honors English class….and that was in 1965 ( yes I’m that old). To think that what was written so many years ago seems prophetic in 2022.
