Yes, you are right these characters were indeed "worst of the worst". The funny thing I have realised majority of male c-drama watchers (including me) are suffering from condition known as "Princess Royal Syndrome", that shit gave people PTSD and due to it. The moment they see's similar behaviour in any other drama, they immediately lash out at the character, and this has turned comment sections into warzones. So, judging by your words its highly unlikely any Song Zu Er drama is going to release this year and we have to deal with low quality stuff until holiday seasons comes around and they release stuff in "New Year Window".

How these four (Princess Yogan, King, Empress Dowager and Lai Luo) factions are connected to "Moth", Embroidery and Shen family case. Although everybody is pushing their own agendas and played a part in these crimes, but it would be interesting to see, who the main villain would is. My money is on King faction and his fake piety ! It's good with some episodes of high angst but overall solid watch, there are some very grey characters with problematic morality. I think you would like it but FL ability to form boundaries with multiple ML's in this one is bad than MOGA.....give it a go !

Its a 7.5+ drama (I am harsh critic) so don't get your hopes high but overall, a solid watch.
