Layered character my ass !

Stop like this was some sort of ground breaking drama or shit like this.... Entering the novel with satire is very very common troupe in C-Drama land and there 100's if not thousands of short (2-4 hours) dramas available on YouTube. I can provide you with link if you are interested.
It was bad attempt at overused troupe... That's what is wrong with this script here.

Lol first I have seen a lot more Chinese dramas than you.... and have been watching Tv series for about 16 years now from every corner of the earth. So don't come here and give all this bias about you don't understand the character or anything like this. First I am not blaming the actress for FL stupidity cuz the script was very weak. Secondly it's not the first time in human history someone has written villain character, viewers were supposed to hate.
Let me give you example "Tywin and Cersi lanisters" were also villain characters but I can understand their motives for doing things.....Y'all are acting like FL was making big brains like Tommy Shelby (Peaky Blinders) but she wasn't....do you know why?
Because those actors and script makes us believe and understand their logic for doing things. Even when their actions look stupid in first look.... We still believe and stood by them.... cuz they convince us with their character persona, history of successful decision and logic.
But FL character failed at that here...it wasn't the actress fault but script was just weak.

Fair enough closer resemblance would be ¨Romance of the tiger and the rose¨ but I don´t like how giving a valid criticism is considered attack on FL.

What I meant is she is ¨Dumb as F¨ at the very start of the drama, FL was marrying ML willingly (She loved him) but SML showed himself and forcefully tried to take her away from the marriage. When she specifically told him NO !
So SML appearing and trying to ruin her marriage was the plot trigger for her death by making ML suspicious, but she did after waking up?
She blamed ML and worked with SML to undermine him, now about her family death. She knew she didn´t read the whole novel and she is missing critical information but again instead of acting like a reasonable protagonist and fact checking both leads accusations before making any decisions. She jumped the gun and blamed ML for everything all the way up to ep 28...... beware thanks to meeting with script writer in the episode 1, she knew damnn well ML character was misunderstood by everybody (when lead director demanded writer to put some good deeds under ML name). Y´all are forgetting overall summary of the plot was provided to her in meeting in the first episode and she knew the general trend of ML character progression.

Not to mention whenever ML did something wrong, he is trash and its HIS FAULT but whatever she did something ¨PLOT and SCRIPT WRITER fault¨. I mean in ep 27 she blamed ML for lying to her about her double identity, when it never occurred to her. Maybe I should forgive him, JUST LIKE ME HE IS CONTROLLED BY THE PLOT but Nope..... ML crimes are crimes and my crimes are PLOT crimes !
This attitude is what is wrong with this script and why she is dumb !

You mean her big brain move is to act against the only guy, that has saved her dumbass at every turn and the only guy who was loyal to her from beginning to end. She was doing it for whom.... bloody loser who had 20,000 elite army with superior weapons. But blamed the guy with 2000 soldiers and inferior weapons for not rescuing him.... when guy with 3000 soldiers was under direct Emperor orders to not move.
Even after all that stupidity.. she had the audacity to expect love from ML and tried to settle down with him. I mean if she was all about LOVEEEE than why settle down. FL character is pure trash and there are better ways to do stuff.

Have you watched ¨Story of Kunning Palace¨ ?
Both dramas have similar concepts and FL in kunning palace was also afraid of ML cuz he killed her in the past life, but SHE INVESTIGATED and researched stuff before making decisions. Don´t defend lousy writing?
Both leads acting is solid, cinematography is also good, set and costume design was up to the mark, overall direction was solid but STORYYY sucked ass.

Twenty-four episodes in and I hate this dumb FL to core and of all the ¨Time travel in novel plotline¨ dramas. She is the dumbest protagonist I have come across (even counting short chinese dramas on youtube). After all the shenanigans and dumb shit, she was done, the greatest crime in c-drama history would be to give her happy ending with ML.
But unfortunately, I have been watching c-dramas for quite a while now and know for a fact ¨all her crimes will be whitewashed ¨there will be zero accountability¨ and she will walk away scratch free.

Wait a minute is the villain Judge guys, who betrayed FL father?

Not gona lie today's episodes kinda felt like filler and I hope they don´t make the common c-drama mistakes of rushing/ruining the ending.

I mean she is not out there cheating on the dude or try to rub her closeness with SML on his face. She is strong, intelligent and proficient at her job.... doesn´t a flying ¨F¨ about advances by other male leads. I don´t think ML and FL characters are trying to overpower the other character. There is a neat and well-defined balance between their skillset which FL acknowledges (this point is very imp). FL is good at forensic science, but she sucks at active investigation and making critical decision during the chase.
ML can do some forensic investigation, but his skills are vastly inferior to FL. Their romance wasn´t dragged unnecessarily and both leads behaved like mature adult people, nobody was out there acting crazy jealous and doing stupid shenanigans like hanging out with second leads to make the other party jealous. There were no unnecessary misunderstandings.

Its one of the few dramas released recently that have smart FL and I don´t think anybody would or should have problem with it.

The guard has behavior has improved and he rarely bothers them, unless it's something important.

I believe it was not one party but multiple (at-least three) factions acting independently of each other, that lead the death of the prince Jin. Bastard (born of concubine) prince reasons for acting against prince Jin are hard to comprehend. I don't believe he did it cuz it was in his benefit to keep the third player in the game alive, this will deflect some of the crown prince faction away from him and keep them busy in with dealing with prince Jin. He would like to keep charade going unless there was chance to stole his power and he also lacks the resources to pull off the elaborate haunting scene.
So I believe it's the crown faction that did it and they had the resources and knowhow to do it in the form "Shangiun Troupe from fourth case" to pull off that fake haunting stuff. They were doing it to remove the potential opponent from the game and force emperor hand to make his last legal son "crown prince". This will also serve the interest of courtiers cuz crown prince is dumb as fuck and can be easily manipulated. FL father on the other hand may have been killed on the orders of the emperor. He may have done it to stop the royal secrets/power struggle from leaking into general public and save the face of royal family. Prince Jin was famous figure in the capital and considering FL father strict policy he would have charged emperor or the prince with murder. I suspect Emperor is also behind attempts on ML and his father lives. He knows ML is extremely smart and worthy of crown, he also knows his son's are trash. Crown prince is incompetent and Win family puppet, bastard son is just cruel as "F" who will not consider the time and place and just go on with his evil plans. After his death intelligent ML supported by his father powerful Shouxi army can unsurp the throne at will (which I believe should happen). He is cruel man who first tried to target and weaken his royal sister position by giving her son marriage with Nobel family daughter and is now trying to weaken ML and his father. That being said bastard son also have reasons to assassinate ML faction in order to steal their military power but considering Emperors grip on power, he would have known about these actions and decided to keep quiet, making him an accomplice
The only one who deserves to sit on that throne after him is that 9 year old boy, who can't speak due to trauma !
