People drop like flies in this show. :D I've lost count of the bodies in just 3 episodes.
Both the leads are very cool. I like it already.

The original Life on Mars is a famous BBC television series about a detective who after being left for dead in an altercation with a criminal seemingly goes back in time to his childhood in the 1970s. He's a detective in that period dealing with all kinds of policing issues and trying to solve crimes without all the modern advances and technology. He relives his childhood as an adult. He doesn't know what's going on half the time. Why he's in 1970? At times he thinks he's going mad. The title is based on a song by David Bowie. There's been several adaptation of it. The Korean one set in the late 1980s is really good. As good as the original. Haven't seen the others.

This is probably still my favourite C drama of the year thanks to the mesmerizing Xiang Liu. And on hindsight probably the best reverse harem since Love Like the Galaxy.

Can't wait to see Tan Jianci in Love Me Love My Voice, Under the Skin 2 and Part 2 of Lost You Forever.

It shows that the showrunners have the courage to follow the source material faithfully. A reverse harem is generally polarising.

Thanks for commenting. I don't usually read the novels or manhuas before or after but I know often disgruntled watchers do.

The concept is good but this feels like a first or second draft script being hurried out for production. A lot more thought needed to be given to this. The police procedural side of things is very silly, trying to create obligatory conflict where none need exist. The lack of professionalism is cringe and them trying to make the male lead some kind of maverick just falls flat. The writing of the relationship between the leads is very clunky. He runs off stupidly and recklessly. She's there to hold him back and explain to him things so the audience gets some exposition and she can earn her keep.

I was curious about your take and I definitely agree about Zhang Zhe getting shortchanged. But I couldn't root for the leads. I felt so frustrated with ZZ's arc and wanted more so much that all the good will I had for the first half diminished. I was almost thinking that this show had a better reverse harem than Lost You Forever.
The messaging of this show is all over the place.

Same. Same. I really liked her chemistry with Zhang Zhe (Wang Xingyue) and really wanted to see more scenes of them together.

I thought it was just me... but I felt the same. I don't think the show did a good job transitioning them from the student-teacher dynamic to lovers. I liked Xie Wei as the master strategist pining for someone he couldn't have rather than Xie Wei as the possessive lover.

I also think the fact that he gets everything he wants with no consequence is what's somewhat off putting.

From what I read of the subs, Sun Jin seems male. A brother or father maybe?

No doubt about it.

I will definitely be watching this especially because 1) it's wuxia 2) Liu Shishi and Fang Yilun are in it. And it gives me Si Da Ming Pu vibes ie. The Four.

He's related to the artist Sun Jin who committed suicide. That's why he liked the painting so much. Wicked witch must have cheated him too.
