Is Family Register a Refreshing Change?

Family Register has been such a refreshing drama to watch. What I appreciate most is the relative lack of the usual exhausting, negative drama. So far, there’s no mustache-twirling villain wreaking havoc every five minutes, and honestly, I’m grateful for it!

After six months of watching First Man and Cruella Hwa-Young create chaos and wreck everyone’s lives in practically every episode, it is wonderful to watch a drama that doesn’t leave me feeling like I need to recover emotionally after every episode.

What makes this story especially enjoyable is watching the two women confront their past mistakes, heal from them, and grow together. Their relationship feels much more meaningful because their development isn’t driven by endless misunderstandings and manufactured conflict. Instead, we get to see people learning, changing, and becoming better versions of themselves.

I’m really enjoying the warmth of this drama and the fact that it allows its characters to grow without constantly throwing another disaster at them. It’s nice to be able to relax and actually enjoy the story instead of sitting on the edge of my seat wondering who is about to ruin everyone’s day.

And, of course, there’s still plenty of time for someone to turn into Cruella Hwa-Young 2.0, so I’m cautiously optimistic. 😂
But for now, Family Register is a welcome breath of fresh air.
