He kisses her once before she discovers his identity and then everything else happens after she discovers his identity and also she has an identity reveal as well. It’s a lot of layers

This makes sense I can see that. Because in story of Kunning Palace There were negative comments about his morally, gray character, but I actually really liked it. Hopefully, he channels some of that here

I don’t know how they’re gonna do it in this drama but in the book, she actually helps him by letting him know that the emperor wants the female Main lead dead because the princess herself is in love with his friend/strategist. At One point, the princess becomes an ally. But I can see them making her someone who is an obstacle for their relationship in the drama. That’s typical drama behavior

Yes, lol. He always attempts to kiss her (she punches him frequently for this) and then he sneaks into her bed multiple times. And once they become active he says things like “if you really pity me, you should give me a heir” 🤭🤭

I never finished it, but I do hear it’s a happy ending

OK so spoilers. The two main people that talked in front of the emperor are both evil in their own way one knows he’s evil and continues to do so the other believes that the bad things he does is for the good of the future but he’s still killing people or at least not caring about the lives of the citizens. The emperor is a puppet emperor meaning because he entered his role as a child at like the age of five or something the ministers kind of have power over him and he doesn’t really make his own decisions and it’s only now that he’s trying to step into the role of being an emperor, but he’s also at least in the book he’s also evil in his own way because he’s trying to get power back from the ministers so he also really does not care about the lives of the citizens or how he gets the power.

In the book, he goes for it every time lol especially once he can determine she has feelings for him.

My only real critique is that I’m concerned with the way the male lead is portrayed. I don’t hate it cause I love the actor, but in the books, I thought he was a little bit more stoic and standoffish. Where in the drama it seems he’s more open ? Idk If that makes sense

It’s a long explanation but the day he decides to leave is the day that they get in an argument so they leave on bad terms kind of. Without ruining the story too much, she ends up going on a journey and runs into the army and sees him and he’s injured and so she’s really concerned, mind you he left thinking she doesn’t like him, so seeing her concerned, inspires him to carry out the act of being injured, even though it wasn’t super severe. She then decides to take his place in the army because she’s so worried about him and as she’s on the battlefield battling the enemy, he comes really angry to join them (and ‘“saves” her) because basically she knocked them out so that she could take his place. And he’s dressed in his full general uniform, and they start referring to him by his formal title and that’s how she finds out.

If anyone is curious if it deviates from the book. It does but not drastically. Some characters have more lines and have shown up earlier (Li , Gongsun, song Yan). It seems his advisor/strategist is a headmaster? Which is an interesting deviation. So far so good

Sometimes the acoustics and other sound/audio issues on set make it easier to just record over later. Other times the team can feel certain voices don’t match the character. It could be a wide range of reasons. I think I even heard once that dubs can happen if the actors voice carries an accent.

Right?! I’m like how can you not know who you like? Lol

Wait. WTF?! Why is this so good?! It’s developing like a complex storyline and I thought this was just a comedy, a parody if you will, based off the trailer. Instead this is giving story of Kunning Palace. I’m impressed. Ep 4 so far.

The grad student case is triggering me a little cause I can relate. Poor girl.
