Top kdrama but horrible use of amnesia trope
First time I saw it I hated it. But I’ve rewatched it several times, both the series as a whole and that last episode. Now I can say: I can understand why the writers put it in. It lets them start anew. But, even if their acting is on point, I would’ve preferred a different last episode.

I think it was a Dave Chapelle joke: being broke is being broke, being poor is a state of mind. Suddenly having money doesn’t mean you’re not poor, if you understand what I mean.

and also snowy night and timeless love, if you like slow burn and stuff.
Angst and misunderstanding that could be solved with one sentence? Another classic Cdrama. But that is seriously hard to endure in some shows.

I don’t mind it. It would be hard to enjoy Cdrama if I did! But I think I’ll check out Feud or Veil of Shadows first.

maybe you can try his drama FEUD with bai lu. His character in Feud is quite different from Mysterious Lotus Playbook…
I’ll give them a try someday. He’s not a bad actor, has a nice presence. It’s really the character type that’s bugging me. (A pretty common character type unfortunately.)

It's sad that it's kind of a common occurrence for them; they constantly suffer from one hate train to another,…
I’m speaking from extremely limited knowledge here, but to me it feels like korean celebculture is more toxic and chinese feels more childish. I like A so I hate B, and I like B so I hate A and C.

If I watch something with an actor I dislike that I like them in, nobody is happier than me. Who suffers from my hate? I do.

Every drama I’ve seen him in he plays a pushy entitled character, which I hate. I couldn’t finish Mysterious Lotus Playbook or Rebirth for you because I hated his characters so much. Are all his characters like that? Should I just avoid this actor altogether?

The husband for sure knows her identity
That would be a good tv twist, but remember when he guides the police into thinking Kingfisher might have become a parent? Is he trying to protect her or expose her? He could just be ultraconfident that she’ll never get caught of course.

yeah that was just my comment on the drama. I thought it was realistic. The ml is the only one with a proper onscreen trauma. sml has a financial trauma that we just hear about, but that is the root cause for his inaction.

In short, I think it was pretty realistic, except for how long she still cared about the sml. Was he that captivating? He was a sad character, he pushed out all potential happiness from his life except money.

Title Shine on Me Spoiler

Financial insecurity is a real thing. I feel it’s quite realistic. But she is so open and accepting, it should’ve melted those insecurities… The reason they never got together is 100% on him, and at some point he should just let go. For her, but mainly for himself. That was that, our stars didn’t align.

One thing I like about this drama is the lack of unrealistically sinister people. Some are petty and greedy, some are small minded, but we don’t have demons spending all their time plotting murder and gratuitous suffering.

I don't know if this could motivate you and there is a bit background from novel because drama not explain it…
Thank you for the walkthrough! You definitely sense it in the drama, but it is not spelled out.

NOT a revenge story, as these transmigration so oftren are.If it is a do-over, it is a desire prompted by her…
Early episodes for me still. There is zero reflection on her part. She asks where she is when she’s on the bridge between life and death, but when she wakes up she quickly finds her footing. I agree with your thoughts, but it’s almost a subconscious wish on her part; or unknown desire. She just happily hears that her enemy’s died, but she seems disinterested in her old life. Like it wasn’t personal? It’s still a little weird to me, but I generally like these kinds of stories.

Title Blossoms of Power Spoiler
I’m only on episode 6 right now, and it might change; but isn’t the whole ”rebirth” or ”soul takeover” rather redundant? Her whole family is killed, she doesn’t seem to care at all about her widowed husband, and her enemies are all taken down with her killing move thanks to the husband she doesn’t care about. Why even make her character like that? She could just be her, and the entire story is still the same, except for a few scenes. I suppose the widower will become increasingly obsessed, and that obsession will seem more reasonable because she is his late wife.

I don’t mind spoilers if you can motivate it for me.

Haha, well, it’s definitely not the worst place to live in. Just setting aside language, it’s hard to imagine living in a country as an immigrant. I wonder if you would have it easier in Sweden or I would have it easier in America?

Who doesn’t like an underdog 😎

I live in Sweden, our culture is totally different from Korea. I think you can live a pretty normal life even as a celebrity in Sweden. Sometimes it’s like we care more about American celebs. But we are pretty mellow overall. As for our news.. Hard to say. Many conceited journalists in this country, each and every one of them kicking in open doors and patting each other’s back. There are communist countries more right wing than we are.

There are journalists risking their life to tell a story. And then we have shameless thrash who hide behind journalists like that. The media could be an instrument to tame the government and keep power in check, but now the media is completely tamed. I don’t even get disappointed anymore.

Bravo, Bai Lu!Now, this needs to start happening in Korea, the celebrity suicide capital of the world.
The news outlets needs to take a bigger responsibility as well. First they hammer the war drum for 2 weeks and then 3 months later they whisper ”oh btw, everything was false”. Frankly they don’t care if someone takes their own life, they get more traffic, and then they just move on to the next target. Disgusting.

Not sure why, but I can't finish it. Nothing was wrong with drama. Plot, production, acting - everything was great.…
Same. I feel generally unenthusiastic. Bai Lu is one of my favorites, I think she is great; and I like Ryan Cheng; I also love the super intelligent coming back for revenge plotline. But here, I don’t know why I don’t love it.
