Cheng Yi really understands every character and can present them perfectly. His meticulous analyzation of Qi Yan, that in this life, he knew from the beginning that he could not live for himself, there is a kind of sadness and loneliness knowing the ending but still works hard, and may be able to stay awake and vigilant at all times because of this. Director Liu Gu Nan (of the drama), praised Cheng Yi for his seriousness and meticulous preparation, before filming, he prepared word documents detailing his character context with every progress and people he met. His understanding of his character, the on-site communication and during filming, Cheng Yi's performance ability is really great. There is a scene that he remember, where the location only in his bed chamber, with limited environment, with no other people around, he could display the inner play emotion perfectly, in just 1 shot.
And director Zhao Li Jun, praised his great interpretation of his role, especially being a person who facing in such a difficult situation, he has a lot scene showing his two-sided character, this character if said to be a black belly/evil/manipulative character is not really accurate, more precise word is forbearance, he did it to protect of himself and also to protect the country. When he facing the eunuch dictatorship, separatist, in extremely unfavor situation, he need to shoulder heavy responsibility, bear the burden, at the same time, facing people wrath/live in infamy, and done a lot of forbearance. And he can finally turn the tide around, it is really not an easy feat for him.
Cheng Yi, because of his carefulness and earnestness that he can better portray and interpret the challenging role of Qi Yan, gaining the approval of the directors and crews.
I hope he can meet more works with good script and production, so he could fully display his brilliant ability 🤗

I think you are missing the point where his uncle's men used Yan Zhi death body to threaten Yu'er, to get the edict. If he really respect his promise to Yan Zhi, which i doubt he is, why after Qiu Shiliang died, he immediately gather an armies inside the palace, used the edict to make Qi Yan guilty for usurping the throne, which can make him be prosecuted by law?
I think if Qi Yan somehow survive, i don't think it is by the help of his uncle. If his uncle's plan has succeed before, he might let Qi Yan live, that is all. But to further helping him to fake his own death?

Prince Guang gave it to her, to make her help him, to stop her father from going to court. I am not sure what he promised her exactly, whether to be his queen (she is pretty ambitious girl) or just to help her get revenge for being humiliated before.

I forgot about the details but the spoilers told about the phone conversation between Yun Shen and Zhujiu, and also their daughter. At that time, Zhujiu was volunteered in Wuhan (the place where they first discovered Covid), and Yun Shen is so worry about her, so does their daughter.

I haven't really find enough information about the drama other than the trailers, because i think the drama is not novel based one, so i couldn't find some spoilers haha,, But that is also my impression when watching the trailer too, he has some closeness relationship with his partner. And there is a picture of him carrying a little kid, i am gonna pressumed that is his daughter.
