Yes i think it's worth it 😁 Everyone has their own preferences and it may be more meaningful to others and less to some.
I don't watch a lot of coming of age dramas so, " already seen countless of times" doesn't apply to me, and I'm sure for some others as well.
I appreciate slow burn, slice of life stories and seeing our teenage characters mature into adults. I like that each episode has a different theme, story and a message at the end. I don't just see this as a show purely about romance, it's also about our characters building meaningful friendships, strengthening family bonds, overcoming obstacles and becoming better versions of themselves.
I guess the show's "slower pace" for me is a good reminder to just take it easy, slow down and appreciate the simple joys in life. This show has given me a few nice, heart warming and funny moments and that's enough to keep me going 😊

It's quite bad on chinese social media, especially on xhs and weibo. There's a full fledged hate campaign, just trolls picking on everything and trying to bury this drama 🙄
I think people don't realise how sensitive and fragile the egos of teenagers are, just because we are all grown ups and we are judging them through the lens of an adult.
Even as grown ups, we can still experience insecurities especially when we are measured up to others who are brilliant and good at everything they do. This happens at the work place too, and throughout stages of our lives.
I see the ML struggling with his feelings for the FL, like wanting to be helpful and a friend for her, but at the same time wanting to prove himself, and to be on even grounds with her. This is more realistic right? Rather than having a perfect ML right from the get go...

I think that some obstacles is probably necessary to show the FL's growth and how she starts forming her own friendships. If everything ran too smoothly, everybody will be complaining about how boring the plot is.
I think it's in human nature to keep wanting to compare and measure yourself up to others. I guess no matter how good your friendship is, if you have a brilliant friend who is good at everything, there's always the insecurity that you're not good enough. To me the ML is trying to prove to himself that he can stand on equal grounds with the FL, but even after winning, I guess he realises that he's only happy when the FL is happy.
It will get better. Episodes 7 and 8 are a dream 😍

It gets better. Don't worry. I think episodes 7 and 8 might change your mind. I feel like there has to be a little drama otherwise, for sure there will be people complaining about how smooth and boring the plot is...
This drama deserves at least an 8.5 😆 The last 2 episodes were the best I've seen in awhile. Honestly, everybody who's hesitating on starting, just give it a shot... Mdl ratings are a hit and miss sometimes. Trust your own judgement. If you don't like it, fair enough. At least you're not being misled by trolls who have their own agenda.
There's already a tonn of hate spam and malicious photoshopping by haters who clearly haven't watched the drama. It's obvious because they have no idea what the character setting is for Lin zhi xia and their main goal is just spamming hate posts all day about Txw's bangs and looks lol Hmmm.... don't know what else to say but, jealousy is a green eyed monster and it's on a rampage 😆

I think at the end of episode 6 made it a bit clearer when his mum asked why he wasn't happy even though he won. Initially, he probably wanted to win so he could stand on equal grounds with her. But I guess after winning, he realised that he's only happy when she's happy.
Understand where you're coming from, i think the male lead starts to look a bit more positive after episode 7 and 8. 😆
Just finished watching episode 7 and 8. I have to say that I did feel something was missing in the earlier episodes but these 2 episodes really clicked for me. They were absolutely brilliant and spoke to my heart. I hope the show continues to get better and better 😁

Well, at least the actors look younger than their age 😅 The entire drama won't just be focused on high school. It will cover the female lead's journey from adolescence to adulthood.
I'm posting this because I have to get this off my chest and I cannot stand what the chinese government and locals are doing to this drama, the cesspool of hate, vitriol and criticism is unwarranted, especially to Zhang Ling He and the Zhu Yu production team whose job is to make the actors look good. It is such a tall poppy syndrome thing where they just want to cut down others who are flourishing. I find it ironic and sad that this drama is doing so well internationally whereas at home, where they should be supporting their own artistes, are being criticised to no end.
Nobody is expecting to see a real general from hundreds of years ago, in an idol drama. In fact, if they wanted to they shouldn't be watching an idol historical romance drama in the first place, they should be watching a documentary!
There were many dramas with pretty and good looking made up "foundation" generals way even before Zhu Yu aired and this wasn't an issue until it blew up in popularity. So basically, Zhang Ling He was made a sacrificial lamb to be made an example of. Seriously, what sin did he commit? And what sin did the director and production crew make in wanting to make the actors look good? Because of this smear campaign, innocent people are almost getting cancelled, platforms being told what should be and shouldn't be filmed because it makes the government and chinese culture look bad.
Total BS and ridiculous for the government to make an example of this drama. I feel sorry for everyone involved in this team with all their hard works going down the drain because others want to see them fail. No wonder the chinese entertainment industry is not doing well and it will continue to falter if china continues to limit artistic freedom and impose absurd restrictions. Thank god this drama is doing well at least outside of China, and everybody's efforts, Zhang Ling he, Tian xiwei and Zeng qing jie's work can be appreciated.
