Just curious, why do you think this role is very different from the roles JCW has played before? I really hope he is, because I was really sad about how Melting Me Softly turned out... he did great, but I felt like there wasn't enough of a plot - also, his recent roles seemed pretty similar, I really really really want to like this one, but I wasn't too impressed by the trailer as I thought it was again too similar.. please tell me that its not

Honestly I'm going to say something really cheesy right now, but what I experienced can't really be described any other way. I was BLINDsided by the love I suddenly felt for this drama -- like I finished it and I was like well okay, but then I kept thinking about it, and I'm like holy sh*t, I'm attached to this drama! Hehe, pardon my language, I'm just really excited to share my experience :)

I believe you've got me spot on!! This is exactly what ended up happening to me.. I used to think that the hype for dramas didn't matter much to me, but it's actually what got me to start it in the first place. I was kinda frustrated that I couldn't vibe with the hype - however, I wouldn't say it didn't live up to the hype (no no that's not it at all), it just stuck with me in a way that I didn't expect, and because of that I didn't have that great of an experience the first time around. But now I happily call the rabbit hole my home! Thanks for the warm welcome :)

The funny thing is though, that I hadn't watched any BL but I think I went in with the expectation that I'd be getting a more clear-cut romance. Now, I really like that the level of the romance is open to our interpretation, I just wanted to see more moments of them together the first time around... I think because of that, I ended up skipping other important scenes too, and what I was left with was a strong desire to see more of them at the end, but not understanding the rest of the story. Now, while rewatching, I understand that even the scenes where they are not necessarily together are equally great to watch, and contribute so much to my experience.. I also think I may have gone in with everyone hyping up the romance, so my impatient self wanted to watch their scenes as soon as possible hehe

i don't know why i keep coming back here... honestly, I just watched this a week ago, and I didn't really appreciate it much while watching it, i fast-forwarded through many scenes, and got lost several times trying to catch up with the plot, didn't really feel like I got as much of the lead pair romantically as I wanted, felt like Lan Wang Ji was too stoic for my taste, and my overall watching experience wasn't that great either... but its been a week... and literally all I could think about is Wu Xian's smile, the beautiful scenery, and the music... Honestly, I didn't end up giving it a great rating, but each day after I finished watching it, I came back here and I'm like no, maybe it deserves more.. I literally never even rewatch shows right after watching them (I never got people who did it either), and yet here I am, rewatching it now, not even missing a single scene - and enjoying it SOO much this time around, finding even the little things I missed the first time around. It's grown so much on me, and that its hella confusing, like why? I'm still finding some things in the plot hard to understand, like why all of the clans take so long to come together to fight against the Wen Clan, but I'm still enjoying it oh so much. Please explain to me - wHAt iS tHis sORCerY? I'm bewitched by this drama.
