Because it’s better to live as Legitimate son than a concubine’s son… legitimate son was an official family Heir… if they were from prestigious/rich family.. all the family’s properties and money would fall into Legitimate children … concubine’s children only got a little or None at all… so, that’s why it’s better for boli to live as 2nd uncle legitimate son since they don’t have children at all rather than living as concubine’s son with lower social rank.
Fyi: official wife would not be happy if their children had the same social rank with those mistresses’ /concubines’s children. Huh? I am talking about bo li here… he was recognized as an official/legitimate son of 2nd uncle… so, his biological Mother (who was a maid and concubine of 3rd uncle) shouldn’t intervene or acknowledge the son anymore.. because he’s no longer her son…

About “Bo li” …. He was adopted as official son of 2nd uncle… so, the concubine from 3rd uncle should not be involved in any kind of relationship with him anymore.. the secret should remain hidden. As Official son has a lot of benefits while as concubine son would be looked down by many people.
