No wonder we're all a bit confused.
It makes sense that you'd think that because he's the king's maternal grandfather. However the dowager is not his bio mother.
So he's the king's grandfather, not the queen's. The Crown Prince is indeed his great-grandson.
Other than respecting the "natural order of things", even in death his motivation is still not fully clear. He was a despicable being and Yeo Ri should have let Bi Bi make a meal of him.

I understood that he's the queen's (grand)father which begs the question as to why he's having the spirit possess his (great)grandson instead of the King whose reforms he doesn't seem to support.
of course there will rollercoaster ride especially in a 16 episodes drama. we would see these two episodes (9&10)…
I really enjoyed episodes 9 & 10. They both moved the story along, made my shipper heart & the king's too squeal with glee, and - unless the show completely loses momentum - set up the last part of the series very well.

Like I said, he has no charisma so his presence is dull & plodding. The other actors are doing such a good job that it makes his black hole of energy all the more obvious.
When an actor plays a villain and a future love interest, the viewer still has to empathize with him from the outset. Yet all I see are red flags. He was the same in Pearl Girl so the problem is him, not the writing or storylines.
Just my two cents on Prisoner of Beauty—I think the male lead's hatred is actually quite justified. He endured…
"I think the male lead's hatred is actually quite justified. He endured a traumatic betrayal and unimaginable suffering at the hands of the female lead’s clan, which shaped his cold and ruthless demeanor. From his perspective, everything she represents is tied to the downfall of his people and personal agony. His mistrust isn’t baseless—it’s a survival instinct honed by pain."
You're absolutely right, yet I find the ML so off-putting and utterly devoid of charisma. I keep hoping the FL will just put him out of our misery and carry on the rest of the story without him.
The FL & ML are increasingly all kinds of "inappropriate" with each other. The ML should have told FL the truth the minute he became aware of it. Shame on him.
How no one else - besides the maid - seems to have noticed already is beyond me.

I guess. The son of a political figure in the US had a relationship with his dead brother's widow. It was probably trauma bonding, but in-laws falling for each other is not all that unusual.

I can't wait until next Fri/Sat.

Nudity: OMG! The indecency!
I'd argue that the world might be a better place with more nudity and less violence. LOL
