?? Are we talking about the same drama? There‘s no such scene, he doesn’t even have any brothers, nor did those non-existent brothers have first (or second) wives! Nor does he have a sister, so how could she have cursed his sister?? This makes no sense!

True! Everyone knows that in drama worlds, being stabbed or shot in the heart is only a temporary inconvenience and you‘ll be fine after a day or two, falling down a cliff will inconvenience you for a few days at most, but beware the dreaded cough - it means an inevitable death! 😂

If he loved her and this had been his only reason, he could have just told her and explained it properly instead of treating her with such contempt.

Me too, major second lead syndrome! He‘s just a much better potential partner in every single aspect. If only ML hadn’t utterly ruined all her potential marriage opportunities by making her cohabitate with an unrelated man (himself), thus ensuring a ruined reputation if it ever comes out!

IMHO they made the 2ML much more attractive than the ML in this drama! He‘s head over heels in love with FL, really appreciates her for her personality, treats her well, he‘s from the same social background, he looks better than ML, doesn’t lie to her, doesn’t do something that will utterly ruin her reputation if it ever comes out, he‘s very wealthy and has good connections, and would never break her heart the way ML did.

So far I‘m having major second lead syndrome and don’t think the ML deserves the FL at all.

But through his actions, the ML has already ruined any potential marriage between FL and SML: she can’t marry him with her fake identity because then she‘d be rejected by the parents as too poor etc., and can‘t marry him with her real identity either because then she‘d be rejected due to a ruined reputation from living closely with an unrelated man.

Real life is sad enough, why can’t I even get happy endings in my fictional dramas??

Her mother didn’t age during her time in the painting and in the novel, she‘s a fox demon. So maybe Banxia is immortal, as well, so she won’t be old 12 years later?

It makes no sense since panthers have those small, round ears!

That may hint at the ending: he could become a ferry in between the two realms instead of guarding on only one side, thus being able to be with Banxia while also fulfilling his family obligations.

I do! Exactly because it seems a bit hopeless right now, at the 80% mark, in terms of dramatic storytelling rules it should then have a twist towards a happy ending, just like in the novel.

I think that’s part of the repercussions, namely that some other karmic connections Banxia and Xuanye had with people also got severed and they’re strangers now.

The sword undid her whole relationship with the crow so it’s as if she’d never seen it and neither of them remember the crow - because now it never was in their lives to begin with.

Well, it didn’t really say no marriage exactly, only something about that fighting fate would be futile and to go with the flow, so maybe this was more of a warning about the rules of the painting world. And even though her divination was supposed to be super happy and auspicious, the way she discovered her parents was so horrible and sad. So all bets are off, anything could happen! After all, we even got a Ren Jialun kiss, which is as rare as seeing stars in the daytime.

It‘s probably PoB, Serendipity has been postponed to next month.
