Something I love about ML: he never patronizes FL, never tells her that her feelings or decisions are wrong or not valid. He just deeply understands, listens, and accompanies her in whatever she’s going through, supporting and protecting without trying to control.
Even when she says extreme things such as wanting to sue her father, or “it’s all my fault”, or wanting to move far away and never marry: he doesn’t contradict her, doesn’t immediately think he knows better and tries to persuade her she’s wrong.
It’s just so sweet and gentle and respectful. He lets her be herself and gives her space and safety. Such perfect husband material!
It’s not, the main couple get married pretty early on and then we’ll see a lot of their married life based…
In that case, every story in which a young girl isn’t engaged from birth would be reverse harem! Reverse harem means a story in which FL surrounds herself with several men whom she all loves and who all love her. Here, FL is merely still an unmarried 15 year old who forms various acquaintances and gets to know them a bit (without even flirting) in order to be able to decide whom she would like to have a relationship with in the first few episodes, then falls in love and firmly makes her choice, and then the rest of the story is the couple’s married life and their adventures.
I don’t think he’s pretending, I think he genuinely likes her but doesn’t want to admit to it since he‘s…
How is he a perfect match so far?? He‘s much too timid, can’t and doesn’t protect her (let’s her be whipped compared to Yanyun who’s already saved her life twice), doesn’t understand all her deep strategies and hidden meanings unlike Yanyun. Everything she likes about him is something he‘s copied from Yanyun.
I have got to learn to stop reading the books in preparation for the show. ☹️☹️
It took me a while to get used to,everything being different, but now i’m on board - I just see it as a different story loosely inspired by the novel, and that way it works and I can enjoy both.
So is this just reverse harem? I'm pondering if to watch this or not.
It’s not, the main couple get married pretty early on and then we’ll see a lot of their married life based on novel and trailer. Don’t believe silly comments - just because she has several potential choices like any normal girl before marriage doesn’t make something reverse harem!!
Not sure whether adaptation has changed the FL's character or not but if not then it's just a modern day girl…
Her drama personality so far is a lot like her personality from her first life in the novel, formed by being spoiled by her powerful grandma who raised her. (Although I think you judge her much too harshly, after all her family tried to murder her as a child, it’s a bit much to expect her to be nice to them now.) But her bratty immaturity leads to her ruin in the novel, and she grows a LOT, resulting in her personality being perfectly behaved, always calm, and very subtle later in her second life. Since they‘ve removed the rebirth in the drama, I‘m assuming that they‘ll let her mature in one lifetime. Right now she’s only 15, she’s got time.
Am I the only one that thinks Chen xuanqing is pretending I hope the FL gets over her crush very soon it's beginning…
I don’t think he’s pretending, I think he genuinely likes her but doesn’t want to admit to it since he‘s judgy and values his image too much. He wants to be respected by Chen Yanyun and emulates him, and wants to be well-regarded as a perfect scholar who follows all the Confucian rules. But I could be wrong, we‘ll see in the next episodes.
Dear novel readers can you please tell me the age gap between FL and ML?
In the novel, their physical ages are around 13-15 years apart, but since she‘s reborn they are actually the same age on the inside - she‘s much more mature in her second life and no longer acts like a teenager. It’s all very different from the drama, but both stories are good in their own way.
the flashback, he said his father was killed that day by his uncle Yan Wen, but they show his father is practically…
I‘ve heard that CXQ is adopted, so perhaps the family adopted him as the dead child‘s „son“ so his lineage would not die out or something? The mysteries of trying to not get censored, lol!
Those who read the novel, it seems from synopsis like there is love triangle in first act and second act would…
Nobody knows since this part seems different from the novel. The novel was first part slice of life/making better choices, protecting people from harm/being a better person than in her last life, without romance. Then the second half is romance-heavy and focused on her married life after she marries the same man as in her last life, but for very different reasons and with very different results. In the novel, she had a severe one-sided crush on 2ML in her first life, but has completely given that up in her rebirth. 3ML has a crush on her in her rebirth, but she never really considers him, she just befriends him to keep him from turning into a mass-murdering psycho again. I really liked the plot of the novel, so I hope they didn#t change too much.
