A Brilliant Cast Trapped in a Messy Plot — But the Cast and Comedy Save It

This drama is a perfect example of how a weak plot can damage an otherwise promising story.

It brings together some of the best possible actors and actresses — Yi Tong, Joseph, Dai Lu Wa, Tian Jia Rui, Riley Wang, and others — including familiar faces we truly missed seeing, like Deng Wei. Their acting is genuinely excellent.

But sadly, all that talent gets buried under an incomplete story and messy editing. No matter how strong the performances are, the constant jumping from one scene to another and the awkward cuts ruin the emotional flow and take away much of the impact from both the acting and the cinematography.

In the first few episodes, it’s honestly hard to understand what is going on. It takes about 10 episodes for the story to finally become clearer, and by that point I can understand why many viewers had already dropped it. I believe that’s also one of the main reasons for its low rating.

That said, if I put aside the plot issues, the love triangle, and the FL’s struggle to take control of her fate and prove herself in a male‑dominated world, I have to admit that the humor in this drama is actually very good. With this particular cast together, I genuinely enjoy watching them. They make me laugh a lot. The drama had the potential to become one of my favorites.

As for the characters, I really liked the ML's simplicity and the sincerity of how deeply he loves. His devotion stood out to me the most. He cared for the FL in every possible way without expecting anything in return.

The FL, on the other hand, was a little frustrating in the romance part of the story because of how confused she seemed. For a long time (24eps or more), she treated the ML just like everyone else, as if she didn’t have special feelings for him at all. But aside from that, her determination and hard work were truly admirable.

I don’t have much to say about the SML, mainly because I’m not really a fan of love triangles. But I will say that Deng Wei did a very good job portraying his role.

As for the second couple, they were honestly one of the most interesting parts of the drama. Wei Shi San is completely and wholeheartedly in love with Gao Ran, while Gao Ran clearly doesn’t know how to express love, yet it’s obvious he is captivated by Shi San’s beauty. Unlike the FL, who disappointed me in the romantic aspect, Gao Ran did not.
Little by little, the way he looks at Shi San starts to feel special. Just that look of his, with a slight frown between his brows (especially in episodes 21 and 22), makes it seem like he’s truly paying attention to her. My heart melted for them.
Honestly, you could make an entire mini‑drama just from their scenes together 🥹🥹

Overall, don’t go into this drama expecting a masterpiece or your number one favorite. Just watch it with an open mind and focus more on its humor and romance. Yes, it has many flaws, and yes, it could have been much better, but it is definitely not terrible. It simply suffered from issues that made it feel more incomplete than it should have been.

And honestly, just seeing this cast together makes me genuinely happy and makes me laugh, and for me that’s enough to overlook many of the drama’s flaws. 🌧️✨
