Well, that was certainly something. I'm not sure what but it was definitely...something.
I appreciate what they attempted to do in this one-act formula, and the concept was clear, but it didn't quite work for me. Perhaps the translations? Or the script itself? Not sure but it wasn't totally unwatchable.
I am convinced Thailand, as a country, is mired in a post-apocalyptic hellscape, re: their wig situation. I have yet to see a single Thai show, of any genre or budget, manage a decent wig. Not even a great wig, just a decent one. A wig that doesn't feel like it should have its own title card in the opening credits.
They even have Ai Yu Fan in this thing! Is she playing the same 'Amy' from "Plus & Minus"? When are Max Lin and Shi Cheng Xuan showing up? Or are we just going to see cameos from actors that played characters in only the Li Pei Yu adaptions? I think the "P&M" leads should get a cameo. Ai Yu Fan was in that and "Be Loved In House", and the "Be Loved In House" leads got a cameo there. Actually, I think every single actor to have appeared on screen so far has had a lead, supporting, or cameo role in two or more of the various series of everyone else in the cast.
Fingers-crossed for a parade of cameos from Taiwan's A+ BLsters.
girl i was fine till i got to know mc is not uni student like i assumed but a highschool student and a minor.…
Bai Zong Yi is 17, a year over Taiwan's age of consent, in his final year of high school, and nearing his 18th birthday. He is also wholly independent and completely self-supporting. By every measure save having reached the age of majority (which was lowered from 20 to 18 only a few years ago), Bai Zong Yi is an Adult capable—culturally, mentally, emotionally, and legally—of making his own free choices about his love life, including if he's ready for a relationship and how far that readiness goes.
I really tried to make that onsen scene work for me by pretending it was LeoFiat but...this show really has destroyed all the fire & chemistry of & between JaFirst.
Still no idea when, why, or how Mueang & Doctor are a "couple" but, honestly, I don't mind. Sex appears to be their dialogue of choice, & it's actually rather refreshing to not be subjected to a fluffy romance simply to "justify" sexual desire. Seems like next week they may actually be forced to use their words; I hope it is immediately followed by them using their bodies, as their NC scenes are the best thing about this series.
Well, second-best now, after all that beautiful snow. We could spend the last few episodes in snow-blanketed Japan and I'd give the show five stars for the scenery alone.
Tell me.... isn't it illegal to use someone's likeness/character without their consent? especially to advertise/promote…
In most countries, yes. It irked me a bit that they handwaved that aspect. They tried to cover it by having the store use Tammy's likeness to promote ONLY Tammy-approved products, but it did not work for the story.
Even a short scene of them asking her if they could use "Tammy-endorsed" on a single high-margin product, & her subsequently giving them permission to use her brand to promote whatever products she's liked in the last X# of months. would've put that issue to bed quite simply.
I am really enjoying this series but the iQIYI subs are killing me. In a show where language plays such an important role to context, subtext, & humour—not to mention it's an actual plot point—it's blatantly obvious that A LOT is lost in the poor translation.
Anyone watching this anywhere with higher quality translations?
Again, Wit, HOW are you alive? They left you unconscious on the floor in a room engulfed by flames in a building that subsequently exploded. The show keeps insisting you are not dead, & you keep doing alive people stuff, but I am just pretty sure you were killed in aforementioned exploding inferno. Your continued existence is...distracting.
Awkward & meandering, & I couldn't list three things about the plot, but everyone got a happy ending, so good for them. I will have no memory of having watched this one.
This is my biggest gripe with the series. Their relationship is built on straws. We should've seen them bond more.…
I wasn't even convinced Lee Jun was interested in having a relationship, full stop. The confession caught me by total surprise. I rewound it to make sure I heard correctly because it really did come out of nowhere.
Kang's redemption arc better have him paying for his behaviour, curing cancer, rescuing a basket of kittens from a blazing inferno, & a receiving a massive dose of therapy. Falsley accusing someone of paedophilia & then going to their house to threaten them with a gun because you feel disrespected is flatout sociopathic. I'm all for the "Dangerous" but the series better actually earn the "Romance"; along with mature themes, please give us mature consequences.
Name is about as intimidating as a Maltese puppy but I hope we get a scene of him taking his two goons to task over what looks like an unsanctioned act of violence (& were those idiots drunk?). He strikes me as the kind of boss who frowns on having his word sullied.
Apparently Gu Buxia's great destiny is to get laid. I feel like Grandpa would be proud.
I could watch 10 more episodes of these two figuring out how to care for one another without undermining one another's autonomy. Especially Lord Lecturer Jiang Chi who is very "Do as I say, not as I do". I know he probably didn't want to tell Gu Buxia because he knows how worried Gu Buxia is about being perceived as just using Jiang Chi but, still: you JUST told your boyfriend how important it is to use your words & openly communicate. Take your own lesson, sir. I'm sure Gu Buxia would've been stubborn at first but I seriously doubt he would have outright refused once you seduced him with logic. & your penis.
Ah, only one episode left. I'm really going to miss this series.
Also, for a series called "Jun & Jun", we're spending markedly little time with them. They've had, what, four or five scenes together, just the two of them, since the series started? We've spent more quality time with the Gossipy Bitches than the leads have with one another.
My eyebrows shot all the way up when that received zero follow-up questions. I also thought he either 1. hates Kim, or 2. Kim just wakes up like that every morning.
There was absolutely no cake in that cakebox. That cakebox was empty, completely devoid of anything tasty or tantalizing, just like the series it's in.
If you liked "Why R U", just rewatch the Thai version. If you're trying to get a MaxNat hit while you're waiting on "Naughty Babe", go watch their "Cutie Pie" supercuts on YouTube.
This Korean remake is ridiculously neutered, even for a basic KBL.

"I like you"—since when? I bloody well missed it.

Thank you. That was literally all BOC ever had to say. Now I have my expectations set, & I'm looking forward to seeing the film.
