Yes, it's because it's a bl. We have so many Het dramas to choose from so the j dramas you mentioned have alot of competition (especially from Korea)...there is so little number of quality BLs (a disturbingly high number of them are TRASH ) so you can understand that for people like me who love BLs kieta Hatsukoi is a breath of fresh air...something I can finally FINALLY watch without cringing throughout the show or getting angry because of the obvious lack of care going into production.

These are the shows that are most successful and watched so I always wonder why people think there are alot more people who like the whole feminine/manly pairing?
