"We did what we had to do," Fei said, her voice steady even as her eyes begged Pete to understand. "Even if we couldn't help your sister, at least we could stop the demon. We could protect others."
But Pete wasn't interested in helping the community. He was only interested in saving his sister. And now he just felt…
"Who do you think you are, Niran? Who do you think you are?! Everything you've done… you've been using me this whole time!"
Pete shoved Fei and Jia Hao aside and threw a powerful punch at Niran, knocking him to the ground. Niran didn't resist. Didn't argue. Pete wanted to beat him to death right there, but in the end, he couldn't bring himself to do it.
Even after all the hurt in his heart, why couldn't he still bring himself to hurt him?
