I don't care what you think, I see the job of the audience to be viewing/hearing the work, evaluating it and responding if we choose to. It is NOT my or your job to "support" him no matter what he does and to "help" him. THAT is psyco-K-Pop-army horseshit. I have news for you: You are not a part of Sam's personal life. He does not know who you are nor does he care.

This drunk acting bit was done at work, as he was working on a series. How is that his private life? HE AND THE DIRECTOR TALKED ABOUT IT OPENLY IN A PUBLIC INTERVIEW. Seems pretty public to me. "Nosy prick?" lol I wouldn't even know about it if he hadn't told the world.

And I've asked this a couple of times, but none of you pro-drunk acting psychos have answered me: If his next project involves scenes in which he does crack cocaine or heroin or methamphetamines, will you be rooting for him to take those drugs for real so he can do his acting job "better?" If not, WHY not? If he's required to commit a murder in a movie scene, should he do a real murder for best effect? Why not?

He made a big mistake. I hope he learns from it. I hope the director and the acting coach are somehow disciplined by their superiors. I never said it had to be the end of his career, nor do I wish that to be the case. I thought he did a great job in the first season and found his character to be interesting, engaging, sexy and with a deep, amazing voice. Unfortunately this second season is so horribly written that there's no way to know whether the acting is great or not.

Did you even read the text of these articles about drunk actors? There are people being sent home from the set because they are unable to function, people passing out on set, people cutting the ends of their fingers off, Kirsten Dunst being so fucked up she had to leave, people having to be carried on and off set by the crew, and on and on...and then we have you and the other maniacs here pushing drunk acting as a good choice. You're a tool.

Why would you even imply it is a legitimate function of the crew to handle out of control drunk actors? What if the crew came to work drunk? The whole thing is absurd.

Yeah, yeah, yeah...I know all about these old stories. The actors involved were being unprofessional as hell. I don't recalling demanding that Sam quit his job though...can you point out where I said that? Just that it's something to watch out for as he progresses in his career. And from another angle, do you have any idea how high the rates of alcoholism, drug addiction and death from both are among actors and other artists, as well as the high rate of suicide? I guess that is something you don't give a shit about. For some reason, you want to promote drunk acting, and presumably stoned, whacked out on heroin, and cocaine-induced acting, as a good thing and I really don't get that. Why is that important to you, that actors do their jobs in an altered state that takes them out of control?

I'm currently re-watching this series before I move on to Season 2, which I have not seen yet. I've reached the part where Type is being crucified online for resisting being photographed by the transgender chick and her gay male friend. Am I the only one who felt those two were super-aggressive and obnoxious in the way they approached Type about photographing him? They made all kinds of sexually suggestive remarks from the start, commenting on his hotness and body and all kinds of other sex stuff. Which is fine with me if it's funny and minds its boundaries. But then they started groping him and stroking him aggressively and I was thinking what assholes they were long before Type reached his limit and told them to back off. And his character also has all that other traumatic baggage to deal with.

I am gay and am not fond of those types of stereotypical LGBTQ characters to begin with. They seem to project this idea that most gay people act this way: loud, rude, obsessed with sex, campy, and aggressive with their obnoxiousness. MOST gay people do not act that way, believe me.

Anyway, it seems ridiculous to me that Type is now being ostracized by the entire campus community for standing up for his right not to be groped and touched and otherwise sexually molested if he doesn't want to be. Had I been in his place I think I would have punched that little guy when he started hugging and stroking me after I indicated I wanted him to stop. The groping and stroking itself was arguably a form of sexual assault and Type would have had every right to take a complaint to the cops or campus authorities.

Yes, there are far more comments attacking my choice to criticize the on-set drinking than there are my comments doing just that. Now that I think about it, it's amusing and revealing. Anyway, thanks for your cogent comment. I agree about avoiding the director's future projects, though that might mean skipping the third season of this drama. I hope Sam fires his incompetent drinking buddy/acting coach.

Sure it is. He spoke about it with his director and idiot acting coach in a public interview. So he made it a matter of interest for anyone who follows the show or his career. As a part-time actor myself, I'm always interested in how people prepare for and pull off challenging scenes. Your comment is just a long-winded way of telling me to STFU. "Acting" is a form of pretending. You PRETEND to be drunk or to be on heroin or to murder someone, you don't actually DO it. This is not a difficult concept to grasp.

It is extremely and highly unprofessional and dangerous for actors to be drunk on set. Just because a minority of successful actors have done so doesn't make it a good choice. Now good luck with YOUR crusade to promote drunk acting. It's a very worthy cause.

I've read through that very same list. Did you read the text of each entry? Most of those incidents led to big problems on the set. Shia and J. Depp and Edward Norton and Martin Sheen and Brad Pitt have had or do have problems with alcohol addiction and disasters on set. THIS IS NOT METHOD ACTING. Jesus, would you have actors shooting up heroin for a drug scene? Sam seems to be a very talented actor, which makes this incident all the more stupid. He does not need the booze! The director and the acting coach are morons. Who's on a high horse? Who's canceling anyone? Unfortunately, drug and alcohol abuse have canceled way too many actors right out of a job and often right into an early grave.

Actors "act," they do not rely on chemicals to get in character, no matter how many times you say otherwise. Where and in what situations? If true, those actors have serious problems. And Sam didn't drink "a little." He drank 3 or 4 large glasses of whiskey. He was shit-faced. Yeah, that's some great acting technique there.
