Good points. For myself, since I saw this first, this is the measure that I judge both versions. I like that here…
I haven't watched any, I'm thinking of watching both because the story looks good. Are the stories the same? Should i watch one before the other? Which one has more romance?
Criminally underappreciated here on MDL, the only reason I happened to come across this hidden gem of a show was…
Your last paragraph i agree with 100%. I actually made a comment just now on here saying basically what you said in that paragraph before i even saw your comment. But that ending😞 but still a great drama.
This was so good, but damn, i wanted a happy ending. So they both went through life single and miserable. No family, no kids, and no way to be with each other. It just left a bad feeling for me at the end of the drama.
I really loved the reverse time concept, so when he first met her, it was her last meeting with him. So she already knew him and loved him. Then, each time he goes back, it's further back in the past and a younger version of the FL. So by the very last meeting between them in the last episode was when she first met him as a child, but his last meeting with her. You could almost watch this drama in reverse, and it would still make sense from her perspective.
Every time he went back further into the past, i tried to recall their previous meeting to make sense of it. It's probably best to rewatch this drama to have a better understanding of the events and her perspective from each meeting.
I had one issue here, apart from the ending. How did the ML adapt so well to ancient life immediately? Ok, he's a historian, i think, or just an author? But in any case, nothing from the past affected him. He easily handled fight scenes, war strategies, daily life activities, and so on. It just seemed he was from that era. I thought they would've shown him to be a little more like a fish out of water, at least at the beginning, and then over time, adapting to the routines of ancient society.
Great drama, and a beautiful ending. A huge win for the ML's character for his love and dedication towards the FL and for his people. I've always liked the ML's facial expressions. It just works with every character he's done. The FL had good character development. In part 1, she didn't impress me. In part 2, she won me over. And finally, the Qing Princess, i loved her character. She's the bad boy equivalent. You know the type that girls can't resist but wonder why they get hurt, treated poorly, and cheated on. Yeah, that princess was bad ass, she knew what she wanted and would do anything to have it. Interestingly though, she also had some character development, even with her limited screentime. If they made a side story with her as the FL, I'd watch that in a heartbeat. Ok, on to the next drama. Arrivederci ragazzi.👋
Give it up, Vincenzo. Your rants were debunked under the Part 2 profile comment section because you haven't understood…
I will rant away, now and in the future, just like hundreds, if not thousands of people have been doing and will continue to do. That's what i love about MDL, as well as the huge data base of dramas we have access to.
Give it up, Vincenzo. Your rants were debunked under the Part 2 profile comment section because you haven't understood…
Debunked would imply there's a correct or incorrect answer. Wrong. There is no correct or incorrect answer. It's subjective, just one's personal opinions. That's what you all don't understand and why many are getting angry at comments, and some are even using insults. In part 1, i didn't really like the FL's actions and treatment towards the ML. Therefore, i preferred the ML to find someone else. In part 2, the FL won me over, so i was content with the ML ending up with the FL. So tell me, is that a right or wrong opinion, or is it just subjective based on one's personal experiences, feelings, and opinions? So don't say "give it up," implying myself and some other viewers are wrong. There is no right or wrong. So you loved the FL, you disliked the Qing princess, great, that's your opinion, but not everyone has to agree with that. It has nothing to do with not understanding the drama.
I also just finished part 1 and honestly I think the ML should be with someone better than her. That mask girl…
I wrote that to describe my point to the person i was replying to. I said to the other person i wanted the ML to be with a different female character because i wasn't convinced by the FL. They replied it would never happen in a Kdrama. So i gave my reasons as to why. I just think because dramas are made for female viewers they tend to favour more FL's with privileges. For example FL's with more caring support characters, and how we have SML's with better traits and characteristics compared to SFL's. And how we probably won't see a ML end up with a SFL. Even though the FL will still end up with the ML, there have been some times where the SML ends up with the FL, like Love Alarm. But anyway, i was just using those as examples to describe what viewers mostly want. I've just seen way more comments describing a ML as toxic or red flag because he hangs out with a SFL. I have seen comments hating on the FL for doing the same thing, but it's not as common. I believe it's just viewers' preference. Just like anime has mainly male viewers, it shows more male content.

What?? Why are you bringing the word sexist into this? Why do you feel the need to use such a word to make your point? There is nothing sexist about it. The fact is that the majority of female viewers prefer kind, caring, supportive SML's. Obviously, not all female viewers prefer this, but the way dramas are portrayed, it's obvious. Why do you think the majority of SFL's that are interested in the ML are usually psychotic bithes, while SML's are usually caring and supportive towards the FL from beginning to end? Do you think dramaland would look the same if the majority of viewers were male?
Did you catch the part when she was unhappy that he was in love with someone else and would not be hers, to the…
Your use of such derogatory language simply shows that your ability to articulate does not extend beyond the word F*ck and your cursing is only showing your lack of intelligence and inability to express yourself with words. I'll let you ponder what you just read.😏
I just don’t know why Gag Hwa was hated throughout the show.
I agree with you, fair point. Don't let people persuade you to not give your honest, rightful opinion just because they don't agree with you. And if they insult you, don't bother going to their disrespectful level. If they continue, report them. MDL gives us the opportunity to freely and respectfully express ourselves and give our opinions about dramas.
Did you catch the part when she was unhappy that he was in love with someone else and would not be hers, to the…
Yep, exactly the type of response i expected from you. You can't converse calmly, reasonably, and responsibly. When you don't have an answer and realise you might be wrong, you resort to insults. They weren't rude, they gave their opinion and you couldn't take it so you had to cause conflict throwing insults using words such as sexist, misogynist, freak, imbecile and weirdo.

We can talk about characters and dramas, but don't resort to insults and personal attacks because you don't like ones opinions. You say misogynist, others will counter with misandrist. Be respectful, be better than that.
Now, back to the drama. If the roles were reversed and Gag Hwa was a male character, would you still have the same opinion? You can't deny female viewers love those bad boy characters. Especially if they're pretty boys. And you love them even more when they go through character development. So character development is fine for male characters but not for women? Because Gag Hwa did go through some small character development with the limited screentime she had.
While the ML and FL were both responsible for what happened in part 1, it's the FL that should take most of the blame. It came down to trust. She couldn't trust him, and she was still undecided about who she really loved between the ML and SML.
