I could accept some implausibilities from start such as the sleeping in office, but from episode 16 it is a total…
Perhaps that would save it for me - I hate to drop a drama and am usually very forgiving, even enjoying ads or tropes festival, when they are present (a Luo Zheng drama recently that got copiously scolded included). This time the fun was overridden by the annoyance at what you take in stride. If the romance starts, maybe I could try to overlook it. I have also seen plenty of unlikely dramas with overbearing CEOs and Cinderellas, quite unfazed too, without being so annoyed. Just this one mixes a too serious outlook on law matters that clashes with the "Demon Master" cohabitation trope. The ML who started as tsundere but convincingly serious and believable, suddenly faded into a puppet on strings receiving three glasses of water thrown into face with no knee-jerk reaction and a feeble shame faced bleating to CY parents -- and of course looks annoyed about it. As I was. Really, the romance MUST start soon or else.... I am very patient, so I will probably sit it through, counting points, and still hoping the positive will outweigh the negative. I will also try not to react here until then or end, since it spoils the mood for those who are still laughing as I was in the start. Have fun : everyone is different, so if this is good for you, fine, don't let my misgivings get to you.

Yes I can watch without subs so I did get the weak explanation to her barging in. So unlikely that our hero let the door to the apartment not be shut properly... Was not he targeted by haters ; was not he a stickler for details? He was sitting on the couch with no earplugs and could not hear that there was noise from someone walking upstairs?? And for the over-the-top mom to trudge up a staircase long after they got in, and find the apartment. Not like they would have a postbox in entrance at ground level to broadcast which number apartment they were in : no, it's really implausible, as is finding the friend trying to climb the rail to drown herself, just in the nick of time, after dark, minutes after she phoned to CY. Too many implausibilities. This plot is getting on my nerves, marring my initial amusement at the comedic parts. Some episodes had me laughing a lot, despite the unlikeliness, but it got just too much, and the mom, the friend, the sister and her ex, the lovelorn partner lawyer Jun, the over the top mom, and henpecked dad of QH, the parents of CY... are plain annoying. I am sorry for CXX who does the best he can with the nonsense, and for ZRN who needed something better too. Not sure it will get on better tracks.
Sadly his only Wuxia A Chinese Odyssey: Love of Eternity.. Isn't famous enough has anyone watched it?
you are welcome. Looking forward to new songs or drama/movies from Tao, while admiring my Ace-YKYB spoils - flowers, mermaid design + impressive dragon in view of Dragon year that will start on Feb10. :-)

I did, in part, on YT. Z.Tao plays a funny Monkey King, albeit it was not my favorite adaptation of the Journey to the West. It is a comedic take on the story rather than really wuxia. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLGJjdMjcPgEPkn7HFXx32RoEgBsF-Xp1B (22 long cuts from the 54/55 episodes drama)
I could accept some implausibilities from start such as the sleeping in office, but from episode 16 it is a total mess how the parents intrude in apartment without key or knowing exactly which floor to go to. Okay, perhaps CY's mom knew and was ushered in by the unwitting Boss who may have thought it was someone came with a package. Still, it was unlikely that he would let an unannounced stranger in, if he had no proof of purpose and identity. Wasn't he targeted by haters? Later, his mom barging in was total wtf. Where did she get a key??? She even had to follow her son's car to check where he lived!!!
The sister/ex husband and pregnant drinking friend also had me raise eyebrows and start twitching, not amused any longer. Yes, CY's unprofessional behavior with the ex drama star and the lewd client also got me thinking then that this was not going in the right direction, especially with CY's same way of "apologizing". Next, her slapping the boss after invading his bed was also bizarre - how could he have left her sleep in his room anyway ; the stormy weather and power outage were no excuse, and had she handed the dog back to her sister then? The roller coaster ride and shooting for toy were limit stupid but cute, then, later, the way the toy was used got so disappointing.
Ah, what did CXX get himself into there? As for ZRN, I'm sorry this is not a drama that will redeem my opinion about her acting. She is still relying on her big "innocent" stares and there is really not much more. This started nicely with laughs and light-hearted comedy, but it is now turning into cringey half baked mess.
I am watching both CXX dramas, but although this one has funny moments, slapstick could have been so much better done. 20 episodes more? Considering whether to drop but perhaps I will watch cursorily My Boss later till end, although my eagerness for new episodes has vanished. Will there be something to salvage from the wreckage? Sighing. Some tropey mini-dramas with overbearing CEOs and Cinderellas are better tailored than this one...
Hi MK916 Looking forward to your edit of this drama on YT! You will do one, will you ? Yes, the translations can…
Oooh, looking forward to those then! Add the links in Discussions, so they will be easier to find for newcomers ? (and for me, in case this comments section gets too long and veers into battle zone again ;-)
I’m rewatching E34, after the wedding where A-Yu comes to see the main couple. I just love the translation.…
Hi MK916 Looking forward to your edit of this drama on YT! You will do one, will you ? Yes, the translations can be "funny". Did Viki get it that wrong?
Ppl who idolize Zhao Lusi are nuts. She strikes me as having the same personality as Zheng Shuang (currently banned…
How crazy can some commenters be? Comparing ZLS to Zheng Shuang ????! To law bender ZS who abandoned children she ordered surrogacy of in the US and is first and foremost banned and prosecuted in China because of this on top of tax evasion ??? What has MDL come to to allow such rabble rousing !
I don't recall seeing anything that explains his character yet. His importance is probably just telling A Yin…
plot hole then, from very start ...hmmm. I kept looking out for something that might explain it better than "whetting appetite for back story of the fleeting time passed in "reprocessing" before "rebirth". Which is not satisfactory. He did not need to be named as if he was a known character, perhaps a son of Xiu Yan or something. It would have been better if he was shown as attendant or messenger or even next in line to jump.
I have a question that may have been already answered (but I have not trawled all comments here yet, because preferred to watch the drama through first and I am only reaching 39 next, because of some delay due to external circumstances). Who is "You Jun" (the boy who hums a tune in front of Xiu Yan and A Yin in the very beginning of TLI before she jumps into the maelstrom sucking her for "reprocessing" in Mortal World, from the "bridge" of I think Ghost /Nether world ) ?
I didn't know the average xianxia is rated so low (in the 5s). What was Ashes to Love's Douban opening rating?…
Agree : I was not enthralled by the Fairy either, and I remembered Hedi too much from his Daoming Si, which he keeps something from in every role I saw him in (lately with Bai Lu). But LBFAD story was different from other xianxias I had seen, so I generally liked it. As for TSL which I came to with no prior reading, influencing or spoiler watching, I ended up quite impressed by it, amused by the initial use of the "wrong carriage right groom" device (watched the remake of the latter with amusement, since it featured Ao Ruipeng, who had been one of the memorable "classmates" of ZLS's "Sang Qi" back when. That Sang name also made me smile when she tackled "Sang Zhi"...)
TTEOTM and TLI are different for me also because I like both Bai Lu, Luo Yunxi (leaning to 罗狮粉 since Runyu : have watched a lot from his 13 year career, going back to earlier than AoL, and like his singing and vlogs too) And Rosy ....count me in as an avowed long time friend of the 可露丽 . Watching those dramas came with anticipation and some trepidation - I came with a very positive bias and know it, but always some fear that it might not totally carry me away. TTEOTM was of course excellent. I am not totally through with TLI, so I'll wait until end to reflect on it, but already thinking of rating it generously.
