The most juvenile ending possible to the most juvenile BL ever made. From start to finish this was a 13 year-old Fujoshi's idea of gay love: Closeted, gimmicky, smirking, cutesy-pie and nearly completely sex-less, propelled in slow-motion by the most derivative plot devices imaginable. Two young men who choose to never mature past high school, still pretending to hide their love while their weirdo parents pretend to not know they're an item, even now that they are well into their 20s. A closeted Pat who naturally chooses to follow in the footsteps of his resentful, homophobic father and work for his company. A closeted Pran who naturally chooses to move away and not see his supposedly great love for 2 solid years. Yes, this is a plot and a resolution (???!!!) where little changes and nothing is resolved. What a weird fucking show.

And that weird knowing smirk that is Nanon's most common expression for this character...Jesus, give it a rest.

So...Pat's family is OK with a Lesbo daughter but not a Gay son? wtf? This whole show is wtf?

Douche bags and psychopaths seem to run the world much of the time. This case was so clearly bogus from top to bottom and yet Hakamada's appeals continued to be denied all the way to and including the Supreme Court. These kind of conscience-free assholes, who would sentence a man to death because doing so would help their son's career or marriage prospects; who would physically and mentally torture a fellow human being for more than 222 hours, all the while knowing he did not do the crime; who would keep someone on death row wondering if and when they will be put to death at any moment...are everywhere among us, at all levels of life, personal, business, government, military, everywhere. It is frightening and infuriating and yet it has always been thus. It seems all that can be done is for good people to keep an eye out for them and fight back.

As for the film...the story of course , is fascinating and horrifying, but otherwise the flick has a lot of problems. The lead actor is in over his head. He's fine in straight-up, drama-free procedural scenes, but as soon as he had to display some emotion things became embarrassing. it seems all he knows how to do is scream at the top of his lungs, the scenes where he threw tantrums were likewise embarrassing...really bad acting.

I could have done without most of the last quarter of the film during which things took a wild turn into artsy-fartsy, film-school, symbolic fantasy silliness that was over the top and laughable. I would rather that time had been spent letting us know WHY Japan's courts kept affirming this obviously bogus conviction, WHY firm dates of execution were never set and the poor guy was kept always in a state of mortal apprehension, WHY the judge's wife was so amazingly skinny, WHAT that divorce paper thing was about, WHAT was up with that wildly bizarre scene with the condemned on the toilet as the possible executioners' footsteps approach and he seemed to start masturbating until they passed, then raise his hands and there was blood on three fingers, and finally, WHY the main judge's winter coat was three sizes too big?

Important story, poorly told: 6.5/10

Once again, Geegee, I have to say we have such similar taste in movies. I had this one on my watch list for a while but had not seen this comment and didn't know you'd watched it.

I didn't say "switch" was "wrong," I said I've only ever seen the term used here on MDL. In the U.S. the term would be "versatile." So the director basically said "I've put nothing in my show to indicate this, but to me Pran and Pat are versatile." OK, whatever...I would ask him in what way it matters since he didn't put it on the screen?

I think this entire topic is much more about stoking fan/audience speculation/discussion as a form of marketing/advertisting/pulic relations. If it mattered at all to the story whether or not this couple is versatile, then the director would have included it in the plot. To me since he did not do so, the entire discussion is irrelevant. What does it matter if it's not part of the story we see on the screen?

You kow, I am gay. I have been gay for a lot of years. I have NEVER heard this tern "switch couple" anywhere other than here on MDL. lol

My position, so to speak, on the issue would be that it doesn't make any difference what a director says about anything at all in his drama if that information is not successfully conveyed onscreen to the audience. And in this case, I saw nothing at all in "how do you rate me?" to indicate that what is being rated is Pran's "topping" skills rather than his "bottoming" skills (I contiinue to put those terms in quotes just because I have also never seen any venue as obsessed with top/bottom issues as here on MDL).

The director might just as well tell us that Pran also shits golden nuggets when he uses the toilet. Without any indication of that on the screen/in the story, will that be assumed as another of the character's traits because the director said so?

Right...I remember that. But why couldn't Pran just as easily be asking to be rated for his performance at bottoming?

As for your Ohm/relationships comment...do you mean he has had relationships with women? So have I, back when I was his age and older, and I'm gay as can be. I could certainly be wrong, but I definitely get a gay vibe from Ohm and my gaydar is pretty accurate. Not saying I couldn't be wrong of course, but I'd bet he's gay or bi.

On what basis has it been decided that Pran f**ked Pat in episode 11 or at any other time? Please, can you give me the episode # and rough time stamp?
