A Visual Gem with a Moving Storyline
It pulls you in, emotionally, to the humid and oppressive world of drugs and trafficking. The only light, life, and freedom is experienced in the development of the leads relationship with the Ballerina which we can only see in flashback but it becomes instantly obvious why it triggers such loyalty.Think "Hard Candy" meets "Atomic Blonde". Action-packed, dark, and gritty. But with just enough "wink-wink-nudge-nudge" to disrupt waves that threaten to carry you deeply into the very dark place which is the premise of the movie.

So good I didn’t realize it was preachy …
You ever get suckered into watching a flick because the action was good? But then midway through you realize that your are getting brow beaten by a bible? But then it is too late to turn back and you finish it because you want to see the bad guy pay? Then you avoid xtian religious flicks in the future because you already know that you are going to hell anyway because you are Wiccan but consider converting to a different religion (not xtian) because the xtian gawd seems way too harsh and Buddhist seem really nice?
Well the same thing but worse happens in Buddhists flicks from Thailand and let me tell you the dharma is a lot more thump-y and brimstone-y. Moreover, it also includes bees, fried in oil, drawn and quartered, decapitation, bleeding out, being hung, being crushed, drowning, did I mention fire? Beaten to life, zombies and eating rotten food…
