He lied to her and said he would do it again. He doesn’t say anything about his feelings, and leaves her to squeeze it out of him, and he keeps hammering on she’s too good for him and makes her out to be the dramatic one because she’s vocal about her feelings and trying to set boundaries. He’s treating her like her father is treating her mother.
I’d say this is more self aware in its ridiculousness than Mad Concrete Dreams, if that helps. The set up here is extravagant but ordinary, the set up in Mad Concrete Dreams was ordinary but wild.
