The filial piety was a beautiful competition. And the dish Ji-Yeong made was a perfect interpretation.

The Queen dowager ate the meal her mother made not because she liked/wanted to, but she saw it as a duty to respect her mother.

This drama just keeps on getting better

The King is not married so he doesn’t have a Queen. The two women that sit side by side are his father’s concubines. The one that sat to the left of the king is his stepmother(most likely married after his mother got deposed). The older woman that requested the competition is his grandmother(fathers side)
Yeonhui-gun only has one “official” concubine allowed to sit next to him
