I’ve only seen four episodes, but it makes it hard to get invested in the relationship when it was started because the only thing that mattered to the girl was that the boy be good looking. It makes me want her to learn that that’s a shaky foundation for a lasting, meaningful relationship.

This had all the ingredients for a show I should have loved. It had a paranormal premise, a cool slant on spirit photography and a decent love story. It had twists abd turns and was well put together, well paced and had all the right ingredients for a great ending. Yet, I just had trouble getting into it. I didn’t dislike it but just found it okay. I think to some degree the ML was just too flat. He never seemed to have much emotion showing on his face. On the other hand, maybe it’s just me.

Take all reviews with a grain of salt. Tastes are always highly personal. Where one person sees no chemistry another might think it was just right. One person might think the premise was unbelievable and another totally buy it. For example, I see why some might find the grandmother intolerable but I’ve seen far more evil mothers in many dramas that don’t get criticized, such as the mother in Boys Over Flowers. It all comes down to taste and expectations. Of course ratings can mislead too for the same reason.

Exactly. The history of some of the best movies ever made have women who are airheads, constantly screaming, shallow, childish and so on. Let’s face it Dorthy in the Wizard of Oz was childish, but that was the point. Men are just as bad but don’t get as much hate. Maybe women just get hated on because they aren’t ideal role models for the gender, but let’s get real, if all women in stories were perfect role models it would be quite boring. They need flaws to make them relatable and interesting..

Why did Catherine Hepburn play a ditz in Bringing Up Baby? It’s not exactly uncommon. Comedy tends to exaggerate traits like arrogance, childishness or air-headedness.

She’s trying to play a woman who doesn’t particularly think much about her looks? Given how many real life people are like that it might be one of the more realistic aspects of the show :)

I think the push for the Thai versions of shows to be “more dramatic” than the original misses the point. Drama is always a balance, and becoming too dramatic is as bad as not being dramatic enough such that the show becomes bland. For me, the charm of the original Korean version was how perfectly it navigated that balance. More is not always better.

I think of it that way, like Murtaugh and Riggs in Lethal Weapon.

If you put “romance” in the title, your gonna get low ratings if people feel like the whole package wasn’t particularly romantic.

It wasn’t particularly heavy on the angst. The mystery of what happened years ago drove much of the show. It had some pretty funny moments but it wasn’t laugh a minute. It was just a good solid show.

Season 2 will be a long time coming.

Agreed. The first episode of season two was almost completely devoted to building romantic tension only to see it dissolve over the rest of the season. Season one had it right. Don’t show any romantic connection if there’s not going to be any romantic progress. Plus it felt odd to have season one end with big reveals on both leads past, but then the whole topic gets next to no airtime for the first dozen episodes of season 2. It felt contrived.

A formula that frustrated English viewers with every show that was cancelled after two years.

I thought it worked on every level. I see how the sports story might be more appealing to some, and others might find the murder mystery more compelling, while still others might have a greater appreciation for the love story or story of friendship, but overall I thought all of them were quite well done and kept me wanting more.

I’m a guy. I have no problem acting childish in the right situation with the right person. It’s one form of humor.

The best shows are like a roller coaster ride. Things soar up in one direction then plunge down in different one. This was singularly unidirectional. Things went from bad to worse to disastrous to impossible. As such, there just weren’t a lot of surprises. It had some good ideas and if well executed could have turned out great despite the poor production. As it is, this just didn’t cut it.

It’s the second male lead that’s spineless. He arranges for his girlfriend to marry another man and gets engaged to a woman he doesn’t like because he can’t take the heat for standing up for he wants. Sure he presents a strong and confident aura, but his actions tell a different story, one where he has no conscience and no strength of character.
