My fear is it would be all downbeat.

The atmosphere is totally different. Agent Kim is gritty, tense and brutally violent. Fifties Professionals is no where near as realistic and suspenseful. They are both action shows but they really aren’t all that similar in feel.

This was an okay show that could have been a great show if it just did three things. First, it threw too much at you too quickly, so much so it became confusing. Too many characters, too many factions, too many names. If they’d added another episode so they could introduced each character and let us got to know a little about them before throwing them together it would have helped.

Second, the love interests played a big part early in the show, then nearly disappeared in the middle. Why? They added an extra dimension and raised the stakes for the three men. But they never really took advantage of that.
If they’d added an episode or two in the middle to involve the women more and made them more active participants it would have added a lot of depth.

Last, they made this very messy plot with a lot of moving parts, which is great, but then they resolved it all, including all the loose ends in one stroke that was a bit too easy. On top of that they resolved the relationships via virtual still shots at the end. Really? If they’d drawn it out and made solving everything as involved as the rest of the plot it would have made for a much better show.

I guess, overall, it’s just like they rushed the beginning, middle and end to try to pack what could have been sixteen episodes with lots of messy interpersonal problems and several attempt to resolve things into twelve episodes. The result was just okay when it had the potential to be so much better.

This is doubly true because too many people put spouse in a different category than boyfriend or girlfriend. So they change when they get married because that person they married now occupies a different place in their minds with different preconceptions and expectations.

If he can travel in time …

I think it was a story where they both knew the ending and were trying to change it, each in their own way. She couldn’t leave him to face that ending alone, nor did she have enough faith to do nothing and just hope he fixed things. She wasn’t the type to wait around to see if the ending came anyway. For his part, he had a plan and it worked.

I see why the ending is regarded as a weak spot for this show. It’s just basically confusing, and it does feel like they just punted, as if they didn’t like their own ending and so just tacked on a different one. The one justification I can make is it’s plausible on the basis that the ML was a genius and so scienced a way.out. We just never saw what that way was.

Aside from that there were quite a few epic moments, where you felt like you were transported to the end of the world. Visually and in terms of the acting, in those moments, it achieved a degree of impact that is rare in series like this. In the end I think it earned its rating. It had a high concept and grand scope which it often fulfilled but gets points off for leaving too much to the viewers imagination in the ending.

Edit: just to be clear, the whole show is about the ML finding his way out of hopeless situations, so it’s not hard to imagine how he did so in the end. What’s confusing is the final sscene comes out of nowhere with Jo explanation whatsoever.

To be honest. I watched it because of Zhang Ruo Nan. She can do romance quite well, so it’s too bad. At least in My Roommate is a Detective the focus was on the male teamwork, and the romance barely developed throughout the show, but it did develop and keep going and their was a payoff in the end.

The epilogue was one of the funniest parts of the show. They strongly hinted at a romance between the leads early in the show, but then it all just kind of evaporated later on, leaving me wondering what was with every character commenting on it early in the show? The suspense was pretty well done when it got heavy, yet there was enough light hearted stuff to keep it from getting morose. Overall this was pretty well done and I would definitely watch a sequel though I doubt one is coming.

I find it so hard to like Hong Geum Bo. She arrogant, judgmental, jumps to conclusions too quickly and when her knee-jerk reaction turns out to be wrong, she still holds a grudge. She'd separate a mom from her child just to obey the rules. Not to mention she'd known Kang No Ra for quite a while and had to know she didn't have a mean bone in her body, yet as soon as she found out who she was she immediately kicked her friend to the curb. Not because of who she was an individual, but because of the family she was born into, a thing none of us have any control over. On the other hand Kang No Ra is saving this show for me. Her reactions are so much fun.

Best show I’ve seen in a long time. It was always entertaining, and had plenty of laughs even up to the end.

I think a lot of viewers, despite putting the show down for it, get more pleasure out of guessing and finding out they’re right. The trick is not guessing who did it, it’s thinking it through and being able to explain why it’s that person. I liked Reset more than Mobius, for sure, though both are great. I was surprised and pleased they did another show in the same vein and kept it fresh.

The K2 is one of my early favorites.Healer is fantastic and an all-time favorite, in some ways because it pulls out all the stops. The Spies Who Loved Me is solid and the romance is critical to the plot. Man to Man is another all-time favorite but mostly because as fun as the spy stuff is it is first and foremost a comedy so all the characters are over the top.

Trae important thing in all these cases is the romance is integral to the plot, meaning the plot doesn’t really work without it. When the romance doesn’t drive the plot at times then it’s going to seem gratuitous, just thrown is to grab an audience that won’t appreciate it because it seems thrown in for no reason.

There are many excellent Korean dramas that manage that blend welll.

I think they did an amazing job of pulling off a problematic story idea. I mean, how do you build any suspense when you know what happens in the first four time loops doesn’t matter. That’s 80% of the series that if some pivotal character dies, no problem. At midnight time will reset and they’ll pop back to life. Still they kept each loop interesting and different, surprises kept hitting you at a good clip, and it was a great watch overall.

For my money, Reset is better. It’s just really engaging on every level.

Still one of my favorites. It’s a suspense/comedy, of course and like all good comedy, the humor comes, in part, from exaggerated, over-the-top characters, and this show nailed it in spades. In that respect all the leads were brilliant, from the cold and impersonal super spy coping with falling in love, to the endearing but full of himself actor who can also kick but, to the plain and sometimes goofy fangirl female lead. In some ways, the same overblown characters that made the comedy work so well made the suspense all the more intense. Thoroughly enjoying it after not having seen it for a few years.

I liked this one overall. It was a bit overly mopey near the end of the first ten episodes, but it got less so as time went by. I also didn't have any problems with the main couples' chemistry and I found it to be on-par with the second couple. One thing I enjoy about Asian dramas in general is they aren't afraid to show strong, competent male leads, and this was no exception. However, it did get a bit lopsided with the cold detached men in this one, to the point I think it hurt the chemistry of both relationships. My biggest complaint overall would be the ending. The resolution of the main plot seemed weak and too rushed to be completely satisfying.

It was slow paced (which isn’t all bad) and there was t a ton of story there but it was entertaining enough for me. Then again, when you see a 6.2 rating your expectations are low enough that it doesn’t take a lot to meet them. Had I been anticipating it, I might have felt differently.
