I loved the novel and even read it twice. I agree, the face thing is bizarre, but stuff like that seems to be fairly common in some historical C-dramas. Historical doesn’t necessarily mean factual from my observations. There is the same situation in the “Dancing with the Tide” novel. One of the characters, Zhang Yuehui, gets a “face transplant” in Chapter 144 and uses the disguise to try to fool Wanyan Puruuo, an enemy (I don’t know if this actually ends up in the TV drama version.) There are other Chinese web novels that have this same theme . I just suspend reality and go with it.

I’m sorry I didn’t mean to sound defensive. I watched that video and it made it seem like LYX and her fans are at fault. He left out important details and showing the photos of pages like that with no way to verify them is actually more sensational than neutral, IMHO. I wanted something in writing to show why so many people are rooting for her as the lead in this drama. She has been the brunt of so much slander …things taken out of context, etc. again I’m so sorry if I came across as a know it all.

Here is what they claimed later in their statement (English translation): "Furthermore, this potential co-star has a poor reputation; whether regarding public image, market reception, or suitability for the role, she fails to meet the public's expectations for high-quality productions."
This is a blatant attempt to discredit her and it’s false. Her public image is impeccable. Her last two dramas, “Love in the Clouds” and “Love Between Lines” were both critical and commercial successes. The Douban and IMBD scores were excellent. .

She is, in my opinion and in the opinion of many others, the most suitable actress for this role. Su Luo Wei, the female lead in Revenge, has to navigate a cutthroat political landscape, and deception/cunning is the ‘name of the game’. Lu YuXiao showed us a master class in this type of character in My Journey to You, where her micro expressions and subtlety perfectly portrayed the assassin Shangguan Qian. Her strong martial arts skills and ability to be a bad-ass warrior was demonstrated in several roles, including her upcoming Dancing with the Tide.
He said LYX fans were making physical threats to ZLH but that isn’t true. Those are black market anti-fan accounts. LYX herself would never advocate anything like that, nor would her true fans do anything that would harm her or others . She is a gentle, caring soul who is totally dedicated to her craft.
My lengthy post is for those who don’t know her or her work. She has done nothing wrong and does not deserve the vitriol. A final comment: It’s my assertion that a highly educated college-degreed, professional actor like Zhang LingHe is quite capable of solving his own problems and navigating his own career choices. He certainly doesn’t need a fan club to intervene. If he is unhappy with the decision making and direction of his team he has an option to hire a personal attorney, if he so chooses.
After reading the novel I can say with certainty that #LuYuXiao is perfect for the role of Su Luo Wei! As I was reading it I could envision her as the true “femme fatale”. She has already demonstrated incredible martial arts skills in My Journey to You (and also in her upcoming drama Dancing with the Tide). Her role as Shangguan Qian in MJTY prove she has the deep emotional range needed for this lead role. International fans are highly anticipating her performance and I can’t wait to see some of the updates.
