Gotta blame it on

What were we expecting. The title was nevertheless still I kept rooting that the obvious won't happen. How was it? Fine really, and while I say this I absolutely am not bothered by the theories out there. We have two great characters who seem to have this undeniable chemistry behind closed curtains. But guess what one is not interested or keen on making it exclusive. Relatable, yeah if you read many contemporary novels, it is. What I've figured in my short life is that we have no right to label love. The kind jae on bears for Na bi or any other kind. How is it realistic? Only in one way, that is the non committed part, the flaws within people, kind of messed up values and ideas we decide to live our lives with. Then why did I rate it 6.5? The poor depiction of the guy we call potato and is mainly there for the sake of Na bi. I also felt the plot was weak and not sincere enough to be gripping. It's hard to name it under an available genre except young adult. As a webnovel adaptation which have so many fans, how did it go wrong? No it didn't. It was always going to be end this way. They did the best they could. The hell bent idea of a perfect happy ending. They got together but was it a happy ending. No it wasn't. Their inner voices seem to tell it in the end. And just for the sake of prosecution which I felt was really necessary for Jae on, he hasn't changed. People rarely do. As for Na bi, she's not stupid or dumb but a girl who is just stuck upon a guy. So my suggestion is go all in without expectations, it's not going to fulfill your ideals but is sure to leave an impression even if you end up hating it.

Just two words- Tragically Beautiful

The charm of a novel adaptation lies in seeing the characters come to life this time not just in your mind but the screen as well. And if you weren't a fan of the novel before you sure want to read it now. There's a touch to it that makes it magical and unforgettable at the same time. A loyal general dedicated to protect and defend his country so much that he ends up giving it all even his life. Believe me there's something about these starcrossed love stories that hit you deeper among other things. The side characters and stories are perfectly aligned. The aesthetics and CGs are great. Most of all the performances of the actors must be applauded. Not to mention the lead characters who brought Zhousheng chen and Shi yi. I want to address the ending as well. Many of us would question the female character taking her own life. I did this for a while as to what message it conveys out to viewers. But really it's a manifestation of love that one could never have, the nameless kind. I wanted to understand the mentality of the character who embraced death in order to not let the bad guys win. She also could not live with the wrongful death of her lover. It's comprehensible though with some forceful persuasion. Personally it's a immemorial drama that is not going to be forgotten any soon.

"A game changer in modern cdramas"

There's nothing new under the sun and it's strikingly true. The more you try to experiment with stuff, the more weird it becomes. Cinema is the reflection of the society. And that's what they did while scriptwriting and creating the plot. It's a refreshing take on a reunion couple story. Thorough interactions and those teeny - tiny moments that one might've missed. The characters have lives apart from being with each other, dreams for which they've worked so hard for. That's what got me intrigued. It couldn't get more real guys. Catching the essence of various personal relationships is what makes this drama stand out the most for me.

"Circumstances are never a hindrance, we are"

I mean you could compare it to many contemporary historical dramas, but only it is not. I beg to differ, because the emotions I lived while watching this were completely new.
Can you just give, without asking for anything in return? No, I didn't think so and the drama reinstates it on purpose.
There are many women who lived in the palace and as we know it, the times were the most cruel to them. It's always interesting and liberating to know of their stories. I try to recall the most things that stood out, but I think the scene which changed everything was the scene by the pond where Sung Deok Im came to know of Yi San identity.
A story should live, even when its characters are not there anymore. We see women, willing to give their all for the people they love, might be the same for every human being not just women. But it's important to know that it's okay to keep things for yourself. " I do love him but I love myself more" A very few historical character has left this huge impression on me. It's a tussle between can you have it all if you just try or will you be satisfied with what you're getting because you're scared to lose.
For me, a historical drama is just more than history, if it's true to its telling but lacks purpose, it's not great. And again, every telling has a hint of narrative. I wouldn't want or care to know whether it was fiction or a real story as long as it convinced me of its truth. I felt relieved of the ending. It's important for a drama of this conviction to leave it open to interpretation.
There's ambiguity in emotions that everyone feels unsure of even when they are on the receiving end. But it's necessary to deliever those feelings with justice, the actors did a wonderful job. I was taken by Lee se young potrayal of Deok mi. What I liked about Lee jun ho's character was he knew when to make the viewers feel distant and close, given the nature of his title. I think this drama deserve a major applause for casting such talented actors, everyone of them including 'the fantastic four' court ladies, the crown prince confidants, the people around Sung Deok-mi. They not only gave depth to the main theme of the story but were unique in their own right. You don't see much of these layers in supporting cast. Given significant screentime, I felt the need to appreciate them more.
I believe you'll like this fresh historical telling, independent in its spirit that felt tiring and trying at times but nonetheless changed my perception of you can only want when you have something. I don't think so anymore.

"Must be good"

That's what I thought when I picked it up and it was for the most part. Stories like these are only fun watched once. Of course, already aware of the plot, I watched for the only reason you do- good acting. The actors were pretty good, even the severe critics would agree.

First of all, do not even think comparing it with the original. Hold that thought and listen to me. If you liked La casa de papel, it would not be hard to like this one.For the new viewers, you don't want to skip this.

It's funny and even funnier if you decide to figure similiarities and slight changes between both. At least that's what kept me busy. I would suggest not to watch if you watch shows for refreshing plots. You may or may not like it but korea did its best to pull off the heist.
