Shang Gu was not his first student. He taught children in immortal realm in the beginning of eps 1. And he was willing to throw those 2 pupils who came late for the class. Very opposite style of teaching. Haha. He just didn't understand his own feeling. Baijue showed his helicopter style of overprotecting her from early on. He got moved first when he knew her trick to answer his quest. Then they got kind of "skin contact " while he tried to open her spritual circulartory system. He got serious injured by doing already. I don't think Zhi Yang or Tianqi can't help him with making the sword but he wanted to do it on his own only. There are several posts which mentioned the sword as his token of love :D . From early on he already said that he just want her to be safe. He felt uneasy when she was angry at him. All of those behavior is above teacher- student relationship . She did not awake at that time. - He did everything for her. it is man's thought to take control and did not want to gamble. Furthermore, dying for living beings to terminate the Chaos Tribulation is Chief God's fate which had been decided by the Ancestral God.
