It’s male-centric, but its target audience is mostly women, so there’s not much difference from idol romance drama. As it gets closer to the ending, it becomes overly emotional and tearjerking, which really doesn’t match with cultivation genre, imo.
It's annoying, there are so many shippers of the support male characters, as if it’s deliberately made as fan service for BL fans. It’s way too vulgar and too much for me.
Even in the donghua, there’s absolutely no bromance and just little romance , but this drama mixes everything together. So, I don’t think it’s very suitable for people who prefer cultivation stories adapted from donghua.

I just define sad ending as a failed mission or a main character failing to achieve his purpose. In romance dramas, the concept of a happy or sad ending depends entirely on whether the leads live or die. if one dies, it’s sad ending, and if they survive, it’s a happy one. But this is not romance drama. Who cares who dies? As long as the main character get their purpose, it’s happy ending. For example, like; Blood River, Fate Chooses You, and Mysterious Lotus Casebook have sad endings because, in the end, their missions failed I still don't know what will happen in final episode

I have big theory, and it will make sense if you watch the donghua. Maybe this dracin actually takes place during Licangsou’s first life in the Honghuan Continent, before the first episode of the donghua begins.
So, in Licangsou’s first life, the World Calamity happened and could not be prevented. As a result, a war broke out between the Jie Sect and the Chan Sect, killing many gods, including Yunxio and Gongming. After failing to prevent everything, Licangsou used the Chaos Bell to turn back time and start everything over. This is where the donghua storyline continues.
If that’s the case, some things that seemed confusing before actually make sense now. In his first life, Licangsou did not know the future. However, in the donghua, he returned to the past while carrying the memories from his previous life. That means he already knew what was going to happen, so he could prepare his plans more carefully and prevent the same mistakes from happening again.
It’s basically like this dracin is a spin-off or prequel that takes place during Licangsou’s first life, before the donghua story begins. So, from the viewer’s point of view, the timeline would be:
1. Licangsou is a modern human. 2. He enters the cultivation world and lives his first life. 3. He fails his mission, leading to a sad ending — and this is probably what the dracin tells. 4.
