Her acting on Umi no Hajimari is exceptional! Literally made me cry. Yoru-dora is a good start for her, but she needs to also star in an asadora. Fingers crossed! She has that magnetic aura to star in the main role.
Mei's acting has improved to a satisfying degree here. That's a good thing! Even though it's not yet close to the caliber of, let's say, Anna Yamada or Sara Minami (for the same age-range comparisons), but she's getting better in acting with nuance. She can handle the dark & heavy roles. The only downside, acting-wise, is the male actor Fujii Ryusei. His acting is super unnaturally strange/weird or maybe even considered as "bad acting". It ruins the flow of this drama. Who is he? Is he a famous boy-band idol thing?
Tanabe Momoko's acting here is exceptional! She can embody the role of Takamiya Rui perfectly and play with energy (can make audience cry when she cries on camera). She's definitely way better and ahead of many of the more "well-known" female actors in her age range. She has that main-role aura too, and should be given more main lead roles. Very underrated.
Yokota Mayuu has that naturally gorgeous, non-mainstream attractive flair in her. Tall & pretty. Her acting as Teruma is also good, although still have some rooms for improvements for the emotional scenes. When first time watching her in the movie Drawing Closer, I actually like her better than the main female lead in that movie (which I consider a bit overrated). I'll keep watching her in the Reborn drama.
The one who plays Izumi has a bit of acting problem when compared to the other 2 girls. She has a cute face, and has that strong captivating eyes (similar to Sugisaki Hana) that can attract attention. She's still young, so she has great potential if she could improve her acting with more support roles. I actually first saw her as a guest role in a more recent drama, Keiji, Furidashi ni Modoru, and seems to show some improvements.
Masuda Takahisa the "renta-san" guy is a weird/unfit pick for the role. I don't know what the producers/casting-directors were thinking when decided to pick him for the Yazaki role. LOL! His eyes are way too gentle and kind for the type of role he plays here.
Overall, not bad drama with some plot holes & casting problems. It has a good message, and even some "real-world" parallels.
I'm considering dropping this after 3 episodes. Super boring. Sorry! Overall presentation is weird. Kinda pushing "Galileo"-wannabe genius investigative framework into a melodrama that's rather dark. This ends up being stuck in a comedy that's too forced & not funny, a melodrama without the support of acting capabilities of the entire casts, and a detective mystery that's boring & too overdone.
No offense to Dean Fujioka. But he's better suit for more "charming villain" roles, or something more extreme when it comes to lead role like in the movie "Pure Japanese" which is the most suitable role for him.
Do you remember the book title and author? It would be an uncommon point of view, since for decades the McMartin…
Eyes Wide Open by Fiona Barnett. I think there's a free download version posted on archive.org site. It contains disturbing testimony, not for the faint of heart.
Yes, no one dared to touch this issue because this theme reflects the actual reality. It's way too "non-fiction" and disturbing, almost like a documentary or a disclosure-type film (like Abema TV's "Scandal Eve" mini-drama from last year). Most TV broadcasters are afraid to come up with this kind of theme because they are sponsored or funded by the same type of industries that are fully aware of "what's happening", and even, shall I say, are part of it. This drama is only aired on NHK BSP premium, and not available on Japanese terrestrial TV or the TVer streaming equivalent.
But this what makes Lost & Found a gem... and there's Anna Yamada 😍😍😍
Solid performance by Erika Toda, but as far as her acting, she's done way better in the TBS drama Reboot with Ryohei Suzuki (finished airing a bit earlier, and will hopefully be on Netflix as well), highly recommended to watch. She completely nails it in there.
Here, it seems like she embodied 3 different personalities that felt a bit out of character. Maybe because the actual person (Hosoki Kazuko) was a historical one & very enigmatic, it was hard to comprehend when trying to embody her character because no one actually knows her actual character.
But the real star here is actually Sairi Ito. Her acting is extraordinary here. Beyond mind-blown!! That would also explain why she took the role that's supposed to be 5 years older than her own actual age, because probably no other talents in the 35-36 yr old age-range that can really take the role perfectly. I can't think of anyone else. The only "downside" that in fact she looks younger than her actual age herself it made people think the role she was taking in the drama is still in late 20s in the movie, and not 36.

As opposed to, let's say, Fukushi Sota, which looks Japanese.

7/10 (Sairi ito's acting: 10/10)
