If you watched the end of the episode, it shows the flashback scene leading to Mariko's mom death. Whether or not it was intentional (to kill), they did not show it to us, but it seems to me that she just can't fall on her own. The railing is too tall.
The revealing of the mysteries in the story, just like in episode 6. But also, there's a deep, meaningful conversation between Sota & Tomoya. After 2 days fully open, they now set the YouTube video to only available in Japan. Those outside Japan may need a VPN to watch. Hope that means they will also publish this drama on a global platform (like Netflix) for those outside Japan. Fingers crossed.

It could be... anything is possible. But one thing for sure, Japanese mystery drama fans love plot-twists, lol... So we can expect any crazy plot twist in the story, and that won't be from random serial killers. Still 2 episodes left.
It was aired in Japan just this Saturday (Sept 5) & has been released on TVer for Japan. You can still watch from outside Japan with VPN, but no English subs available.
Dang, you guys really need to watch the Season 2 of this. It's soo extremely good!
[update] Watched 3 episodes so far, and it's already definitely better than the Season 1. Everything is elevated to the next level, especially the action scenes (fighting choreography is top-notch!), and the acting as well (Non's acting is getting way crazier & unhinged here, and so is Yamazaki Hirona & the "new girl" Morikawa Aoi). Storyline is more cohesive as well as more dramatic. Episode 3 has a dramatic tear-jerking scene that really could make you cry.
The arrival of 3 new female assassins have also spiced up the action (especially Morikawa Aoi, she's nimble as an assassin and also an excellent cast for the "drama" part). I think this is due to the new female screenwriter Matsushima Ruriko. It has that "girl power" element induced to the story.
Now we just need to find how/where to get the rest of the episodes for international audience. Netflix please!
