So I’m with you on this one. I said it before and I’ll say it again: Luke has a foul mouth, but he also has that soft cushion/cloud he calls a heart.

I picked a favourite from the lead cast and honestly just ignored the other one. But from what you’ve said about her, I can totally see it now.

And this is NOT me saying she had to do more or behave differently just so Luke wouldn’t look as bad. I think if her character had been a little more compelling to me, she probably would have been more memorable.

All I’m really saying is, your explanation gave me a lot more clarity on her character. I think I just didn’t see her beyond what was happening on the surface while watching.

I expected a whole clarity scene where someone, preferably the HR lady, took her aside and explained everything to her that went down that caused the big misunderstanding, and then a reflection scene too. I love those final clarity scenes lol

That man has a FOUL mouth, but the way he says “I miss you” just shatters all your resolve. Coming from a hard guy like him, it’s honestly the cutest thing ever. 😭 I found myself giggling way too often for my own comfort.

And his styleeeee… OUUUU. His stylist knew EXACTLY what they were doing because why was that man looking that foineee?!?! 😭

I also didn’t think there was any need for a redemption arc for the 5th Prince, especially after they missed the perfect opportunity to give him one when he and the Crown Prince were locked up together. We got to see the Crown Prince in a completely different element, being a troublesome little brother, which I absolutely loved btw. But the writers missed that opportunity, and honestly, I thought they could’ve just ended his story by letting him die and calling it a day

A woman definitely wrote this drama, and you can’t tell me otherwise, especially when it comes to the male characters. At least 80% of them were certified yearners. They were obsessed with their women, and honestly it went a little unhinged with the 5th prince there ngl, but I loved every bit of it.

One thing’s for sure, they went all out with the budget for the fake blood. Lol

And that final move when he stabbed his brother, I GASPED, and watched it at least 77 times and gasped 77 times.

The cast deserves its own conversation because first of all, the two leads were totally eye candies. The chemistry was literally spilling out of the TV, laptop, and phone screen depending on what time I was watching it. They had that kind of chemistry I was giggling and stretching/curling my feet

But Yu Jia Cheng??? My days. 😩

Ngl, at first I thought his acting was a little rigid, but this man really said, “Give me a minute to settle into the role,” because DAMNNNN. The more I watched him, the more he grew on me. This is actually my first time seeing him, but I’ve officially got my eyes on him now. And let’s not even get started on how foine he is.

Overall, the storyline was amazing, the cast absolutely did their thing, and everything just came together so beautifully. It was genuinely such a lovely watch, and I’m so glad I stuck with it.

9.8/10. The drama delivered, the cast delivered, the chemistry delivered. Everyone delivered.

So when I got to the part where they finally revealed the big bad, I shouted “I freaking knew it!!!”

TBH, I didn’t know for sure, but I definitely had my suspicions. I had three people on my suspect list: Lord Qi, Lord Zhou, and Lord Song.

Lord Song was my first guess because he was just way too chill for comfort. 😭 Lord Zhou was my second because I felt like the writers were deliberately trying to make us suspicious of him, which made me think he might just be a red flag.

But Lord Qi… that man was practically screaming villain from the beginning. First of all, his makeup was way too villain-coded for someone who was supposed to be a protagonist, so I immediately had my eye on him. And I could smell his obsession with Pingshu from the very first episode. Then, when we found out midway through that his father-in-law had a hand in her death, and he still remained married to his daughter anyway, that really sealed it for me. It showed me that he was clearly biding his time and playing the long game.

This drama was SO, SO good. A solid 9.8 for me.

And I’d like to see this modern day monarchy storyline from a cdrama lens. Unfortunately I know it won’t get past censorship

Idk what everyone hating on this drama watched but it had me giggling and blushing for the better part of it. It was such a nice drama.

The star stone. I guess he was played by 2 Actors. The guy locked in a cave ( I don't think he had a name) and Xie Lingxi, Shi Guan's master, who gave him the prayer beads.

I finished this on a crazy high note. Please bear in mind that I had a 7-month-long, Chinese film hiatus due to increased pressure at work, but now, I have the time to go back and catch up. I started with Blood River and went straight to Pursuit of Jade, and then Veil of Shadows. After POJ, I had real movie-lag (you know, from Jetlag). So any movie I picked up after that, which was VOS, was so freaking slowwwww in the beginning. But I pulled through because of all the TikTok edits I saw, and I am so glad I did because this was such a masterpiece.

It even had a Kal-El (Superman reference), which is a first, and it was so cool to include that. The fight sequence was 10/10
