Yes, to everything you've said especially NN's mom is driven by guilt - but where exactly is she driving to? Off a Cliff for sure cause this is going terribly! As her character is shown more I have to believe she's repelling NN because she sees her old self in NN. She was broken and she thinks breaking NN is the only way to "fix" her. Which is utter bullshit! No amount of guilt and wanting to "teach her the correct way" can ever repair the damage she's done to NN upon her return. The dad and mom are a team - mmmhhmm finally it's been said! I couldn't watch and smile and laugh with the dad upon their return home because rather than sticking up for his child he grabbed the shovel and helped dig the hole to bury her! Amongst the adults in NN's life her immediate family are the worst (grandmother included)! Her Uncle and Aunt are far better human beings and better influences on NN who show her what love, respect and healthy relationships with adults are possible!
